My husband had a bad accident over the weekend, he was lighting a gas smoker grill and it blew up, burnt his whole arm and hand it was pretty severe, he was in a lot of pain. I have a tattoo of two swallows on either side of my chest. I had them for about a year and then all of the sudden I got a raised, bumpy, itchy rash on them. I did a bunch of research and discovered that some people have allergies to certain inks. Most often you are not allergic to all the ink, but rather you are allergic to a specific color, so you will only get the rash in that area (mine only gets the rash where the blue ink is, for example). Also, it is usually sun exposure that causes the rash to flare up. Mine only appears when I am in the sun for a long time or if I go tanning. Otherwise it is fine. I have had the tattoo for 5 years now and it still happens when I am in the sun. Usually, after you have had the tattoo for awhile and it has healed, the only thing that can cause a rash or irritation like that is an allergy to the ink.

I believe it can be. I typed "Lexapro Rash" into google, and found many, many people claiming to have gotten a rash from the drug. I myself took lexapro for 3 days, and suddenly developed a rash that's covered ~3/4 of my upper body.

i assume you're asking why it happens. opiates (like oxycodone) are direct mast cell degranulators. the mast cells 'degranulate' and release histamine which makes you itch. usually benadryl (or other antihistamines) help the itching, but be careful when combining sedatives...

It sounds a lot like ringworm. My family had an above ground pool that initially did not have chlorine in it. I was already sick with strep throat and had a compromised immune system, but after swimming in the pool and going to bed shortly after, I noticed in the morning that I had an oval shaped pink rash on my abdomen. My doctor inspected the rash the next day and confirmed it was ringworm (very common in the summer months and easily contracted from a swimming pool which harbors fungi without the appropriate chemicals like chlorine). Ringworm can be treated with over-the-counter cream or prescription cream, but it should be treated immediately never the less. It takes a few weeks to fully be rid of this fungal infection and even then, there is a moderate risk of recurrence.
