Saturn Ion

It is located un the hood. You have to take the top motor cover off doing so, Just remove the oil cap and pull up on the plastic cover. Then look on the right side of the intake manifold just on the edge of it you will see a 32mm Nut.. Unscrew that cap off and it is a drop in oil filter remove and discard the filter and replace the o-ring located on the cap. The O-ring is sold with the filter they run about $20 at Advance Auto. Open the hood and look at the firewall on the passenger side, or look in the fuse distribution box on the drivers side wheel well.

All of the newer vehicles used 134A refrigerant.

i have a 2003 saturn ion and inmy car i had trouble finding mine but i went to the gm dealer and they showed me a little yellow dip stick down in the bottom front of the engine look far down in the front there is a bolt you will need to take off first. i hope it helps. good luck

It's your bearings. They get worn down after a while. I just had them replaced and it's now rolling smoothly.

They're what your tires are attached to the axle's by. I.e. when you take your tire off, they're usually a copper-ish color.

they are located under the hood. It looks like the battery, but it isn't. I leard the hard way when in needed a jump. the batter is in the trunk next to the tire. There is also one in the vehicle drivers side under the radiio behind the cover

Park the vehicle on a level surface. Drain the oil and change the filter. Pour in 4.5 quarts of the correct weight oil and start the engine. Let it run for 1 minute and then shut down. Wait 30 minutes and check the oil level. Add enough oil to reach the full mark on the dip stick. Do not overfill. You now know the capacity.

In addition on almost every vehicle I recommend 5,000 mile oil change intervals. But on your Ion, I recommend you change your oil and filter every 3,000 miles. There is a design flaw in this engine that requires that you make sure the oil never ever gets very dirty. So no your vehicle change the oil/filter every 3,000 miles religiously.

i have a 2005 ION 2 Coupe and i have 215/50R17 on my car and they just barly clear the front struts.

in the trunk where the spare tire is, lift up mat in trunk and you will see it.

The battery is in the trunk under the trunk liner, simply remove the trunk liner, remove the hold down and cables and replace...

I have a Saturn Ion coupe but this should apply to all models of Saturn Ion's with or without power mirrors.
1. Roll the window down. Take key out of ignition. Inside the door locate the plastic panel directly behind the mirror. With a small screw driver pry this panel GENTLY away from the door. If is not connected in any way to the main internal plastic door panel. It has three clips that fit into holes and is easily replaced once removed. Carefully remove the foam piece that is located in a large hole behind the now removed panel. If you have power mirrors locate the wire coming from the mirror there is a connector located along this wire. Unplug it and note how it goes back into the hole.
2. Locate 3 bolts. 2 are behind the panel you just removed and the third is higher up and to your right as you look at the large hole and inside the area where the door closes against the body. With a socket or hand wrench remove the nuts off the 3 studs. Support the old mirror during removal. Pull the old mirror away from the door and throw it out.
3. To install a new mirror first plug in the electrical connector and feed the wire down into the door cavity while bringing the 3 studs on the mirror into alignment with the holes in the door. Push the mirror all the way up against the door. Put the nuts on by hand while gently applying pressure toward the door on the mirror assembly. With the same wrench used to remove the nuts tighten them down on the studs but DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN. Put foam piece back into hole in door and replace the plastic panel by aligning the clips into their holes and push it into place. Your done.

Place a drip pan below of the oil filter. Attach an oil filter wrench to the filter. Turn the wrench to the left. When the oil filter is loose turn with your hand until it comes off.

standard or auto?

if standard there is a smooth metal ring directly below the rubber shift knob and above the leather boot. This ring will turn counter-clockwise a quarter turn. You may need to get some pliers on it but it will turn. After turning this ring a 1/4 turn counter clockwise the shift knob will pull straight up and off. You will definitely need to rock the shift knob back and forth as you pull up on it.

if auto you need to pull down the silver ring (pulls down pretty hard) and then there is a small hex screw in the front for tightening the shift knob.. unscrew this and the knob will come right off

It's right on top of the plastic intake. There is a black plastic housing on top of it that comes from the air cleaner housing. It's pretty much the first thing you see when you lift the hood.

The short answer: The same way you remove a windshield.

My 2007 Saturn Ion Coupe roof was held in place with 6 nuts, and what appears to be the same glue used to hold the windshield and back glass. However your working blind and up and over humps. It took us about 4 to 5 hours, or about 3 times longer than it took to wire cut out the windshield out. We thought we wire cut through all the glue; however, there were still four areas on the inside of the two bolts in front and the two bolts in back that were still attached. After further investigation, I found there were four areas of glue about 1 to 2 inches long we missed because the glue deviates toward the center of the vehicle at these four bolts. While cutting off the roof - it worked best with one person on the inside and one on the outside pulling the wire back and forth; however, for these four trouble spots - pulling the wire back and forth on the outside of the vehicle worked best. A triumphant thump occurred as each of the four remaining spots where cut.

Steps: Remove Drip molding (4 pieces), Cowl grille, Windshield, Back glass, Interior pillar trim, Headliner, Sunroof, & Six 10mm nuts (two in front, two in back, and one on each side).

I used the $24.99 Professional Windshield Removal Kit by Harbor Freight - it has enough wire for both windows and the roof. Plus you will need the tool to push the wire under the roof skin and through the adhesive. FYI: I was able to wiggle and push the tool with wire through the windshield adhesive fairly easy; however, due to working blind and up and over the roof rail, I found it easier to heat up the tool and melt my way through the adhesive.

You should be able to look up the trouble code in the Haynes manual for that vehicle. It should also tell you how to obtain and read the trouble code.
