Yes they do im in atlanta public school and i have to wear uniform. But I dont know about south atlanta high school.

Offering children choice of clothing to wear instead of prescribed uniform empowers children and allows them to express their creativity and individuality, giving them a sense of control over their own bodies and identities. Of course, with all freedoms come responsibilities, and giving children choice of clothing also teaches them the parameters of responsibility and the consequences of their choices. Children of younger ages may be given less of a range of choices than older children (such as a parent having his child select from a few acceptable outfits instead of from anything in the dresser).

Uniforms stop bullying because they make everyone equal. For example, if someone was wearing really dorkish clothes, a person with higher fashion might say, 'Ewww, look at those disgusting rags!' Because they all dress the same, this can't happen.

Unfortuneately, some do not agree (such as me). It doesn't give you any right to express yourselves. Personally, I think the dorks should learn to stop wearing dorkish clothes. It would help improve our schools alot.

Uniforms do not stop bullying,nor do they make everyone equal in school because the vast majority of the schools students will see each other after school,on weekends, holidays,summer vacations ect...

So everyone will still know who can afford to wear the latest fashions and who cant,everyone will know who wears top brand sneakers like Nike and who wears the latest walmart knock offs..

Everyone will still know who is wearing the dorky clothes and who isn't ,so the bullying,teasing and snobbery will still continue even though you have uniforms to wear...

The school board members want to have an assured feeling of power thus they force kids into uncomfortable clothing. Usually these uniforms are not appealing to the students residing in the school. Most experts argue that school uniforms improve the academic area and school attendance, but on doing some research about this serious debate topic it does not affect a single kid. Although it prevents bullying about clothes,children will always find some other way to bully a children. Whether its about their body weight, looks, or even a lisp! Also many debaters argue that the cost is more less when buying uniforms instead of trend setting/ designer clothes but that is actually wrong. Instead of buying "fashionable" clothing to impress others the school uniform makes everyone equal.

Hmm i think the elementary uniform in most schools is quite kiddish. When kids come to high school they need something that definitely makes them look mature and not like kids.
