How old is a Browning Ranger over under 16 gauge shotgun model number 103-11 serial number 9202?

There was a model 103-11 over/under sold by Sears. Sears used the Ranger trademark in addition to JC Higgins. This model was made by Marlin and is essentially the same as a Marlin Model 90. Serial number information is not available to date this gun, as it is not known if the numbers ran consecutively with the Marlin marked models.

Marlin manufactured this model from 1937 to 1958. The earlier guns had a separated space between the barrels; This version was made from 1937 to 1949. Between 1949 and 1958 the barrels were solid together.

Per Brophy Sears rangers were sold prior to WWII. They were marked JC Higgins after WWII. the Blue book of gun Values is wrong. Model 90's prior to 1949 were solid between the barrels and open between the barrels after 1949.

Where can you find information for a 1915 J Stevens Arms and Tool Company Favorite with a nickel plated receiver and rifled barrel?

Well, never say never, but frames on the boy's rifles were generally not plated. We'd need to see it closely to determine if the plating is original. sales@countrygunsmith.net

Where can you get information about a Western Auto Supply Co Revelation 310C 20 gauge shotgun?

How do you tell how old and what type a J Stevens shotgun is if it is marked J Stevens Springfield and has the number 147k on the receiver under the barrel?

There have been several variations of the company name, but never just "J Stevens". The "Springfield" name was used from 1920 until about 1948 and during this time the company was called J. Stevens Arms Co. The type is determined by looking at the gun: single shot, double barrel, pump, etc. The gauge, if not marked on the barrel, can be determined by measuring the chamber. 147K MAY be the model number. I have not found this model listed in any of my references, however if it is a single shot or double barrel, few models differ significantly from others, so many are not listed individually.

Did Crescent Firearms make an Enders Royal Cannon Breech single barrel 12 gauge for Simmons Hardware Co?

The "Enders Royal" name is associated with Shapleigh Hardware of St Louis, and Crescent was one of the several manufacturers. "Cannon Breech-Simmons Hardware Co" is found on single shot guns made by J. Stevens Arms Co. But I cannot locate any information that indicates a shotgun was made with both of these trade names.

What company manufactured the Sportsmans Cleveland side by side double barrel 16 gauge shotgun?

The Sportsman-Cleveland was made by J. Stevens Arms Co. It probably has '5100' marked on the right side of the receiver. There is no 5100 on the right side. There is a circled 22 on the bottom of the receiver, near the forend. On top of one bbl it is stamped Selected Forged Steel and the other bbl has Proof Tested 16 Gauge on the top. Whe you remove the wood forend there is a metal tab on bottom of the bbls that the forend snaps onto, it has a C and below that is a Z. Stamped in the inside wood of the forend is E84553 and beside that on the metal is 84553. It has double triggers. My uncle says he thinks he paid $39 for it new but doesnt remember when that was. Any idea its age and value? Its condition is about 60%. Thank you for the assistance.

What is a Winchester 94 lever action made in 1926 with a 20 inch round barrel worth?

Typically, that would be a standard carbine. However, there are still possibilities of other special order features that will greatly affect the price. We can ASSUME it is a standard carbine, but you need to understand that originality and condition are the big factors in determining worth. A 90% gun would be worth $750 while a 40% gun might bring $350. A 95%-98% gun would be close to $1000. A refinished or altered gun would bring $250. sales@countrygunsmith.net

What is the approximate value and history of a Belgium made Browning 12 gauge serial 292926 with a choke on the barrel in good condition?

The original question referenced a ventilated rib on this shotgun. PLEASE, people, if you change these questions make sure you include ALL the information given - it makes a difference. You have a Browning Superposed made by FN in Belgium for sale by Browning. It was made in 1961, and should be the 'round knob/long-tang' configuration. That means the pistol grip is rounded on the bottom instead of squared, and the trigger guard extends down the front of the pistol grip. These are collectable shotguns, and being a 20ga makes it a bit more valuable than a standard 12ga. Possible value, depending on condition, originality and features can approach $2000-$2500 (assuming it is a standard grade and not Pigeon, Diana, etc). The big question is whether the gun has 'salt wood.' Browning used a salt process to dry stock blanks during this time period and sometimes the salt would not be removed completely, causing the guns to corrode badly underneath the woodline. If you have a 'salt gun', value is going to be reduced by at least half. If the gun is going to be marketed, we'd be interested. sales@countrygunsmith.net

What is the value of an Eclipse 16 gauge double barrel side by side shotgun?

The 'Eclipse' shotguns were typical hardware-store catalog offerings in the late 1800's through about 1910. Most of these were imported from Belgium, and will have the ELG in an oval proofmark underneath the barrels. They are considered wall hanger decorations only, and sell in the $200 range. sales@countrygunsmith.net

What is the value of a 50 Cherokee single shot 12 gauge and where can you find specifications and other information about this gun?

Not sure how you are getting those markings. If the gun is a break-open single-shot shotgun marked 'CHEROKEE ARMS CO' it was distributed by the HD Folsom Arms Co for sale by a major hardware/catalog store in Tennessee from c.1890-1920 or so. Could have been made by Crescent Firearms, but also could have been made by a number of other manufacturers such as Hopkins & Allen, H&R, etc. Value would be less than $100. sales@countrygunsmith.net

What is the value of a Wilshire double barrel shotgun made approximately in 1850.?

Is it "WILSHIRE" or is it "WILTSHIRE"? I have no information on Wilshire, but WILTSHIRE is a known trade name used by the HD Folsom Company on guns they sold to a major hardware/catalog store in New Orleans LA from c.1890-1910. Is the gun break open or muzzleloading? sales@countrygunsmith.net
