Self-confidence is very important. If a girl thinks you have low self-confidence, she will usually pass you by. Like the previous answers stated, you should become more active at school. Try to be more outgoing as well. I mean don't be too outgoing because you might get annoying. (trust me, I've seen it happen)

Once you are confident in yourself, she will see that and will possibly give you a chance.

Really not trying to be mean, but if you actually are unpopular and don't have many cool friends or friends at all, odds are, you won't get a girlfriend. And just saying from a point of view. The best thing to do is (but most likely won't be possible) move to another school and totally change your style, be more active, and hopefully people will like you there! But since that doesn't normally happen just like that, just try out some new things and like girls that can have a chance with you and just be more outgoing, and if you do get turned down, don't let it ruin you! Self-confidence is really important, or else people will just see you as invisible. And, again, not trying to be mean by the first sentence.

Aright, first, when walking, walk with your head up facing everyone and your eyes looking around (metaphorically and literally), make friends who are girls (it makes other girls jealous, some at least), speak up in class and make yourself look and sound smart or witty, put yourself out there, be social, be confident (if you're confident it make you look friendly [just don't get cocky] and approachable, dress nicely (match your clother and don't wear pajamas to school!!!), clean up (cut your hair, so you can see your eyes, brush your teeth as often as possible, use lotion!!!, wash your hair regularily, and please don't smell!! that's the worst), be yourself, don't change yourself to look cooler or more popular, or when you do find someone, you won't know who you're supposed to be... And remember, you're not the only 17 year old out there who's single and looking and lonely ... =)

One, you need to stop feeling sorry for yourself. Even by the way you asked(phrased) this question, its quite simple to tell that you are feeling very sorry for yourself.

Im assuming that your are still in school, if this is the case then heres some advice. You may not be the popular kid, but in school there will always be group projects. When put into a group, start to try to get along with the other kids. ANY of the other kids. Making one new friend for yourself will get you invited to hang out with their friends as well.

In order to make new friends and such, you should try to quit actually so shy. I know its hard, I used to be the shyest person i knew. Its not easy to stop being shy, so look at yourself and figure out "Why is it that im shy?," because most shyness comes from a lack of self-confidence, which in turn comes from not liking yourself. The way i built up confidence to stop being shy myself was I realized that it stemmed from my not-too-great body. I was overweight (not too much, but still). As soon as I decided i wanted to change,I started working out, running, eating healthier. Since last year when i started this, I've went from 207 lbs, to the 172 lbs that i am today. Making for-the-better changes about yourself will automatically result in more confidence.

If you make an effort making more friends will take care of your shyness, unpopularity, and issues you are having with finding a girl who will like you.
