What is transfer of dominance after brain injury in children?
Transfer of dominance after brain injury in children refers to the phenomenon where the functions of a damaged brain area are taken over by an undamaged part of the brain, often the opposite hemisphere. This process can lead to the recovery of skills and abilities that were impaired due to the injury. Children's brains are particularly adaptable due to their plasticity, allowing for more effective reorganization and compensation for lost functions compared to adults. However, the extent and success of this transfer can vary based on factors such as the age of the child, the nature of the injury, and the timing of rehabilitation.
What are the various types of speech disorders?
Speech impediments, also referred to as speech disorders occur when normal speech is disrupted. It can be developmental in that most children will generally go through a stage of disfluency i.e stammering, fronting (cat is pronounced as tat) or lisping and gliding r (red pronounced as wed). Certain sounds develop at different stages of childhood and that is why these developmental errors occur. Does being tongue tied affect singing?
"No. It actually helps a person who has problems with stuttering. There are some famous singers who are stutters, but it doesn't show in their singing."
Tongue tie is not stuttering. As someone with tongue tie, I can say that a case that is minor to moderate should not keep you from singing but some vocalizations in certain languages will not sound right and all you may get will be an approximate sound rather than the exact pronunciation.
Tongue tie will also affect your ability to sing different notes quickly because the tongue is rooted further along the tongue than for most. So we can do legato but not staccato well. Your results may vary.
It is either the way you learned to speak, or it is a condition caused by any number of variables.
