Why are the tips of your spider plant brown?
I could be a mixture of several different things. First thing is over watering. Let the plant dry out during the winter months. I usually stick my finger into the soil up to my knuckle. If it doesn't feel wet I then water. During the summer I water once a week.
Another thing that causes browning especially on the tips of the leaves is salt build up in the soil. Give the plant a good flushing with a gallon or more of distilled or reverse osmosis water once a month to reduce the salt content in the soil.
Another thing is that spider plants are sensitive to fluoride that is used to treat water. If you know that your water contains fluoride it would be best to use distilled or reverse osmosis water when watering.
If all else fails and your still having issues repot the plant. Use a coarse well draining soil. I have used cactus mixes with good success.

Where is the banana spider found?
The banana spider is a common name used for two entirely different species of spiders, the nephila clavipes of North America, and the phoneutria of Central and South America, the latter of which can be deadly.
The phoneutria or South American banana spider is a large, aggressive spider with a body length of about 1.3 inches (3 cm). This banana spider primarily makes its home in the rain forests but can also be found in cities, where, between 1970 and 1980 it was reportedly responsible for the hospitalization of some 7,000 people in southeastern Brazil.
The nephila clavipes banana spider of North America possesses venom similar in nature to the venom of the black widow, but far less potent, making it quite harmless to humans. A bite from a North American banana spider will not result in much more than a welt that will pass within 24 hours.
No its a crustation
crustaceans & arachnids are both arthropods(phylum) of the kingdom animalia, but a crustacean is a subphylum, while arachnids are a class of the subphylum chelicerata, so it's like they're they're a whole different category. Crabs are a class, malacostraca, of the subphylum, crustacean. As an interesting sidenote, certain"crabs" are not crabs or crustaceans at all; e.g., horseshoe crabs are a class, merostomata, of the same subphylum, chelicerata, as the arachnids, so they are, in fact, a closer relation to arachnids than to crustaceans, kind of like cousins.
