How long will there be a loss of appetite while taking Straterra?
I'm a 38 yr. old woman who's been on Stratterra for 5 weeks. My first 7 days I couldn't eat a thing. After my dosage was upped to 40mg, 65 mg & 80 mg. I have had no problem eating when I want to, but I could easily skip lunch every day and have no desire to snack. I eat 3 meals a day and I don't say no to dessert if I'm not too full from dinner.
I have to make a point to eat, but I can eat. I was already slender before Stratterra and I don't want to loose another pound and I haven't.
Other sites have shown people's side effect going away after one to two months.
After having been on Strattera for 3 months ADD symptoms are coming back is this unusual?
I am begining to notice the same thing. Strattera had a very intense affect on me the first couple of days. I felt extreemly focused but felt as if I was in an altered state. After a week or so that "altered" feeling began to subside and I just felt "really focued" the benefits seemed to be wearing off going into the 2nd month however. So I asked my doctor to increase my dossage from 80 mg every day to 100 mg. This made a difference for a about a month.
Now I have been taking 100 mg (2 25 mg tablets twice a day) for about 3 months and I am not noticing hardly any benefits anymore. I really would like to know if you body builds up a tolerance to the medication. Right now I feel like I may be wasting my money on the medication. I am affraid to stop taking it because I fear the withdrawl affects.
I cant increase my dosage because 100 mg is the maximum.
Can anyone give me some insight?
Hi, Per my daughters psychiatrist....new studies have found that while increasing the dose may show an improvement for the first couple weeks if the dose gets to high then you can see an increase in ADHD symptoms....we lowered her dose and she did much better on a lower dose than the higher one...hope this helps
After much searching and family stress in trying to get Strattera into my 6 year old son who has a feeding disorder and out of control ADHD, I have found an alternative solution. He can't swallow a pill and eats only an extremely limited selection of foods. (Only two of his foods are possibilities for putting medication in.) Since Strattera is extremely bitter, I pretty much couldn't disguise it enough to get it past him in any food. At the 25mg and 40mg dosages, I could sort of hide it, but we absolutely could not get 60mg into him in any food! It seemed that he was tolerating the medicine well and been having more good days at school so I was extremely dissapointed that our program was being derailed because we couldn't get the medication into him. The pharmacy we use said they couldn't make it a flavored liquid unless it was already in that form from the manufacturer. So I found a compounding pharmacy and discussed my problem with them. At first they said they could make it into a liquid and I asked could they make it into a patch because I didn't have much hope in any flavoring being able to disguise the bitter taste. The compounding pharmacy lab then said they had made it into a transdermal gel for some of their clients. I immediately felt a renewed since of hope! My son weighs almost 70 lbs and was on 60mg orally, but was initially stepped down to 40mg transdermally. He has been on it for almost a year and we are convinced we are seeing much improvement in his behavior. Our compounding pharmacy also makes the mood stabilizer Valproic Acid he takes in conjunction with Strattera into a suppository since we couldn't get that in him by oral routes either. So for you parents out there that need an alternative form of this medication, a transdermal gel might be the answer. This is a new frontier as far as the transdermal delivery of this particular medication as not much information is out there on it.
What can you expect with your moods and feelings when you go off Straterra?
Here's a tip: you should taper off to minimize withdrawal effects. Be ready to experience some anyway.
severe side effects and mood swings. Irritability, anger, rage and emotions being totally out of control has been our experience. Not a good drug in my opinion.
Could Strattera damage the cardiovascular system?
my son has a pacemaker and belongs to c.h.o.p.(CHILDRENS HOSPITAL). HIS CARDIOLOGIST WOULD HAVE SAID SOMETHING IF HE FELT IT WOULD DAMAGE MY SON IN ANYWAY.MY SON HAS BEEN ON THIS FOR ABOUT A YEAR WITH REGULAR CHECK-UPS. I TRUST MY SONS DOCTOR.I KNOW WERE ALL HUMAN,I FEEL HE WOULD KNOW BEST ESPECIALLY BEING A HEART DOCTOR WITH STRICKLY JUST CHILDREN.MY SON ALSO HAS LONG QT.WHICH IS ALSO RELATED WITH THE HEART.SO HE ALREADY HAS A LOW HEART RATE,WHICH HIS PACER IS FOR,AND LONG QT,WHICH HIS HEART CAN STOP IF OVER EXERTED.SO I FEEL THIS IS SAFE. I REALLY HOPE THIS WORKS. I`M NOT A DOCTOR,BUT I AM A MOTHER,WHO LOVES HER SON VERY MUCH. SINCERLY, SHARON TUCKER
***Strattera has serious side effects, including cardiovascular risks. Although in some cases the need may outweigh the risk of use, it is important to discuss using this medication with your health care provider.

Can Straterra cause blood in the urine?
Atomoxetine is "corosive" to any mucous membrane. In the powder form it can cause permanent tissue damage to the eyes. Gastrointestinal side effects are most common. Sexual dysfunction and urinary retention were issues in the adult studies. Demand that your physician report this adverse event to Lilly!
Can Enzyte be taken with Strattera?
I do not know specifically about Enzyte, but I currently take a small dose (2.5 mg) of Cialis concurrently with my 80 mg daily dose of Strattera. This was prescribed by my doctor to help fight the sexual side effects of Strattera. There have been no negative interactions that I can tell and the Strattera sexual side effects have pretty much been eliminated.
If you are taking Enzyte to combat sexual side effects of Strattera, I would suggest talking to your doctor or at the very least the pharmacist to find out if there are any possible interactions. As far as I know, Enzyte is completely herbal (and from what I've heard... a placebo), so it probably won't have any interactions, but it is better to be safe than sorry!
Is extreme sleepiness a side effect of Strattera and does it go away after a few days?
I Was sleeping everyday on my lunch hour while taking Strattera, It made me feel dopey but it did help a little with concentration issues strangely enough. Just switched to metatdate...hope it works better. N
One of the side effects of Strattera is fatigue, but this is not considered a permanent side effect and should resolve itself in two or three weeks as your body becomes accustomed to the drug. When you increase your dose or go off Strattera for a day or more, the fatigue may kick back in as your body re-adjusts, but for most users, this side-effect eventually goes away. Every person is different, though, and if you are taking other drugs, there could be interactions with them that will cause unexpected side effects.
Do mood changes caused by Strattera diminish or disappear over time?
:
You should not be experiencing these sorts of effects while taking Strattera.
This is what is mentioned on the Black Box Warning for Strattera, including other changes in behavior such as irratibility and suicidal thoughts especially in children. But either way it is clear that you need to contact your doctor and you should dicontinue use of Strattera.
An EMO is a depressed person who perfers black and other dark colours and rock. But that is just a stereotype
Can you? Yes, I suppose just like anything else, it could potentially be smoked just like any other pill. Should you? No. Hope this helps! Dr. B.
Have you had urine hesitation caused by Strattera?
Yes. Stattera will definitively work your awareness, you'll feel alert, and accomplish your tasks.
The two side effects I have experienced are:
(1) Problems passing urine including
• trouble starting or keeping a urine stream
• cannot fully empty the bladder
If you push yourself to urinate, you might feel some discomfort in the bladder and scrotum area, due to the pressure you are causing to be able to release. On a 25mg capsule, I have felt frequent urge to pee during 12-24 hours. My advice is to avoid overpressure to urinate; take your time and let it flow.
(2) Tiredness
When the pill effect is wearing out, most of the time I feel tired (crash).
I try to take a walk or do something active to avoid tiredness during working hours.
first get up from the toilet and flush it while that happens let one rip but control it or somebody will know it was you who farted and it will go terribly wrong. so good luck out there

5mg is 5 milligrams, or 5 thousandths of a gram. for most materials, this is barely enough to be visible to the naked eye.
That really needs to be evaluated by a pyschiatrist. ODD isn't treatable by meds. He most likely needs to be in counseling as well.
Can atomoxetine help people with Asperger's Syndrome?
Strattera, also known as atomoxetine, is a selective norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor used for treating attention-deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD).
It is one medication that can be given to people with ADHD (who might also have Asperger's Syndrome). It can help them stay focused and decrease impulsiveness, which means it might also help with anger management issues. However, possible side effects include suicidal thoughts, loss of appetite, aggression, and others.
It is thought that it might be useful in treating some symptoms found in people with autism spectrum disorders. Thus, it might help some people with Asperger's Syndrome who have uncontrolled emotional outbursts or other impulsive behaviors.
