If the high beams are working and the fog lams work the only answer that makes sense is that both low beam bulbs are burned out.
I found no mention of a power steering filter in the owner's manual or in the service manual for Outback.
If the AWD has been disabled a light on the dash will indicate "FWD".
Otherwise, if it drives smoothly and gives no indication of a problem, it is working. The Subaru AWD mechanism very seldom fails but when they do there will be no question that something is wrong. Enjoy your car.
Self Destruct
Assuming that you have the H6, because the 4 has vee belts.
Never done one on Subaru but there is a cover called the "collector cover" you have to remove to gain access. Should be just a couple of bolts. From there you locate the belt tensioner, use a wrench pulling clockwise to relieve tension and the belt slips right off. Back on is reverse order. It is the same for any car that has a serpentine belt.
I see the owner's manual recommends this be done by the dealer. Best of luck!
The curb weight of the 2002 Subaru Outback is 3425 lbs..
It has something to do with the immobilizer & keyless entry system programming. Take your car to the dealer. He will have to use a special scanner and laptop PC to program.
You've got one on the left hand side of the engine (close to the windshield washer liquid container) chrome top with two elbowed tubes on top. The other one is in the gas tank...up to you to figure out how to change it! Watch it when you change filters, system is pressurized. Have fun Andy
You should have to push the clutch to start the car. Is this switch working? I have seen a lot of import ignitions that loose contact in the switch. Do the dash lights come on, the oil, charge, temp, indicators? Does the radio play? If they do then I would look at the switch. If they don't, look at a fuseable link, or one of the connections at the battery on the positive side.
Hello
I was having the same problem! Finally I found out that the new "super bright" lights should NOT be used in a car that has daytime running lights. So once I put the cheap GE lights in they have lasted longer than any set that I had put in before! And they are just as bright as the "super bright" lights are anyway.
The color codes change as the wires go through connectors. Your best bet is to purchase a repair manual from an eBay seller. Bought mine for less than $10 and it is indispensable if you are going to work on your own car.
4.2 u.s. quarts (4.0 liters / 3.5 imp. quarts)
There is no reset button. The computer is reset by repairing whatever tripped the CE light, and then using a scan tool to reset the light. Reset the light without repairing the problem and the light will just come back on.
USUALLY THATS WHEN YOU TURN THE KEY BACKWARDS (ONE CLICK) SO THAT ONLY THE RADIO AND THE ELECTRONICS CAN COME ON
Subaru manuals are available (free) from the Subaru website. Note that there are variations between the models sold in different countries, so subaru.com will give you slightly different manuals than subaru.ca, for example.
$150 to $600
depending if the transmission or engine has to be lowered/removed or if it can be changed through crankcase removal.
If you are referring to the shift lock release it is inside the console. Different years of Outbacks have slightly different locations for the access plug.
On a 2005 I just looked up there is a plug right above the "P" indicator. You pry the plug out with a screwdriver, insert the screwdriver in the hole and press down. Move the selector lever from "P" to "N", depress brake pedal and start the engine. Instructions including illustrations are in the owner's manual for your year.
This is for the outboard lamp in the rear quarter panel. The bulb is an 1157 dual filament, 12v, staggered bayonet base.
Before starting, stop at a hardware store and pick up the bulb(s) and two or three 6mm nuts. If different thread pitches are offered, get a couple of each.
Tools needed are; flat blade screw driver, a quarter drive ratchet, extension and 8mm short and deep sockets. A magnet on a stick may be helpful to retrieve a nut dropped into the quarter panel, but you were smart enough to get spare nuts.
Use the screw driver to remove the access cover in the interior behind the lamp assembly. Remove the small access cover just under the cargo cover hook-on bracket. There are two studs holding the lamp assembly retained by those little 6mm nuts. Use an 8 mm deep socket to remove the two nuts. Here's your first chance to lose a nut. With the nuts removed, you can now pull the tail light assembly out. There are two lamp sockets that can be twisted a quarter turn or so to access the bulbs.
Replace the bulb(s) and test the lights before reinstalling the assembly. Starting the nuts from the inside is easier with a standard depth 8 mm socket than the deep socket. To reduce the chance of dropping a nut. put a dab of grease in the socket to hold the nut. Otherwise here's your next opportunity to lose a nut. After engaging a few threads on the stud, change to the deep socket to secure the nuts. Don't over tighten the nuts. You're nut bolting the main fuel tank on the Space Shuttle.
Pop the interior access covers back into place.
The 2004 Subaru Outback runs on regular unleaded.
No it will not, The front brake rotors are out of round. Needs replaced are turned, both rotors.
