Unless you want to replace the seat on your Outback, I can't imagine a situation where it would be better to take it out than to simply fold it down. there should be a little knob on the back of the seat next to each seatbelt, the pulley that fastens it to the wall of the car. Pull that up and it will fold the back of the seat down. As far as actually removing the seat, for whatever reason, that you will find difficult to do.

It's a stick. It goes through a tube down into a reservoir to measure fluid level. If it is so tight that you cannot get it out, that is bad. If it is so loose that it falls out or allows dirt and bugs to get into your transmission, that is bad and you should replace it. Otherwise, enjoy your Outback and for cryin' out loud use your turn signals when merging or changing lanes. It tells the rest of us that you know what you are doing.

Well that depends on what year it is and what engine it is, but the best way to find out for your car is to check the owners manual.

it has a timing chain and very very rarely needs replacement. They recommend checking it for wear and stretch sometime around 100,000+ miles.

Subaru engines are known to leak oil externally. When that oil reaches a hot surface it burns. Hence the smoking engine. Check your oil level when you get gasoline and make sure it's always full. No big worries. You can get your engine steam cleaned from time to time and it should minimize if not eliminate the smoking but only for a time. Be happy that it's not an internal oil leak into your combustion chamber which would equal smoke coming out of your tailpipe.

Generally, the engine will sound louder. If you take a rolled up rag (so you don't burn your hand) and hold it tightly over the exhaust pipe while the engine is idling, you will hear a sound like compressed air leak.

How long you can avoid repairing it depends on how much you value your life. Leaking exhaust can enter the cabin and carbon monoxide in the exhaust is deadly. Leaking exhaust does no other specific damage to the car unless the hot exhaust blasts against something flammable or the exhaust system falls off.

Heat shield. As the car gets older, it degrades, loosens and rattles. Simple cure is to have the mechanic put a new one on. Generally a low cost repair.

First lift out the carpet from the arm rest well to reveal 3 screws - undo. Then lift internal door release handle and remove small panel to reveal another screw- undo. Then unscrew two screws near 'A' pillar . gently pull the door card poppers out starting with the bottom one furthest away from the 'A' pillar, moving towards the 'A' pillar, and up the latch side, pushing the lock button gently inwards as you lift the card up and towards you.

Facing the car, the transmission dipstick is to the left toward the firewall and near the bottom of the engine compartment. It's rather hidden! The handle should be yellow.

I have not tried to install a seat heater. Assuming that you have a seat with heater that you wish to use, Subaru tends to not include the wiring unless that option was ordered from the factory. You will need to install all wiring up to the fuse panel.

For what it cost to replace the radiator and/or repair the engine, I would stick with the stealership original Anti-Freeze coolant. Better be safe than sorry...
