Why are butterflies associated to the dead?

I am speaking from my personal experience that I have notice and come accustom to over the years. You may think my answers are a load of hog wash, and that's OK because everyone is entitled to their own personal opinion. So here we go. Butterflies are a good omen. I would term there presences, as magical and mystical forces lume were ever butterflies are present. I believe that butterflies are associated with death because they are connected with universal energies or natural law and natures laws. Therefore they can connect with spiritual engergies as well as our physical existance. With regard to the dead question, as far as I know butterflies have been known to represent a love one that may have pasted over recently. they often appear to let you know that there is love and peace for that loved one, with the transition to the spirit world. And they want for you to be at peace too. I guess you could say that they act as spiritual messenger delivering peace love & splendor Apart from seeing a butterfly collecting nectar from flowers, I have often witness their presences were no flowers were in site as far as I could see. What I noticed from this was, that they would often appear, after I had gone through a life changing experience were I had gain insight, understanding and acceptance. I would on most occasions be deep in thought, and all of a sudden one would fly erratically in front of me, to gain my attention I would imagine, and other times I'd be trying to soak up the sun and review my most recent experiences when they elegantly appear in front of me. Too me butterflies aren't so much as being about dead, but rather being about spiritual connection. I hope this helps you.

What is the origin of throwing salt over your shoulder?

The superstition of throwing salt over your (left) shoulder came about because people once believed the Devil stood behind your left shoulder waiting for you to make a mistake or to influence you into making a mistake.

Spilling salt, which was once used as part of a Roman soldier's salary and hence as money was believed to not only be wasteful, but bad luck.

Throwing some of the spilled salt over your left shoulder would be throwing it into the Devil's eyes, thus blinding him to your mistake.

Can people talk to spirits?

Yes people can talk to spirits.I should know because I have talked to a spirit before. Sometimes they are mean and sometimes they are nice. It all counts on if you are nice to them. Because when I first knew i was talking to a spirit....well let me tell you the story. Ok i was sleeping and i woke up because I felt a cool mist flow across me, I saw a person standing at the foot of my bed, it said something but I could not make out the words but i think it was trying to tell me a message. The next day i fell and twisted my anckle so bad i could not move it for 2 hours, And at that moment i thought the message the spirit was telling me I was going to hurt myself. So it was not trying to hurt me it was trying to help me and warn me. So yes people can talk to spirits.

no people cant talk to spirits that's simply ridiculous

What does it mean when your left hand is itchy?

superstitiously it means:

* If the palm of your right hand is itchy, then it foretells that money is coming to

you, but DON'T scratch it as that stops the money from coming!

* If it's your left palm that is itchy, then scratch away, as that means that you'll soon be paying out money for something!

* If you want to avoid losing most of the money you have to pay out, rub your left palm against wood and that should reduce the amount you have to pay out.

* If the back of your hand itches you will lose money.

Realistically, if you choose not to believe superstitions i think you should just itch your hand.

Why do people believe in superstitions?

Most superstitions stem from a combination of primitive belief systems and coincidence.

If, for instance, you broke a mirror one day and the rest of the day went just as bad, you might believe that you really were suffering from bad luck. Or, as is more likely the case, you're just victim of a coincidence. These sorts of things happen all the time: Someone's wearing a certain pair of socks and wins the lotto, and suddenly, they're the proud owners of a pair of "lucky socks".

Other superstitions have a bit more basis in fact. "Don't walk under a ladder, it's bad luck" - well, someone could be working up on that ladder and drop their tools on your head. That certainly wouldn't be good luck. Some such superstitions are used to educate children about basic safety, because they cannot understand the idea of danger and risk

The primitive belief system comes from the innate tendency that the human mind has to find patterns in the world around us. It's why patterns in wood grain, stucco ceilings or clouds can be said to "look like something" (most typically faces, but that's another matter).

Its something we've had for a large percentage of our evolution because it allows us to learn quickly: fire on meat= good, fire in hair= bad. Sabre tooth tiger= dangerous, house cat= cuddly. We can make quick decisions based on what we've experienced in the past to hopefully allow us to survive into the future. But as culture has gotten more advanced our brains haven't necessarily evolved to keep pace, so even now we're prone to the same sort of impulse-decision making.

Most people get their earliest ideas of what is true from their parents. A little later we learn from teachers, and perhaps priests. If we get as far as high school we might see some actual scientific demonstrations, but even at high school most of what we learn we accept because a teacher told us.

None of us have time to discover everything for ourselves. You have never seen a lion kill a zebra - but you know they do. Most of what we know is what we have been told by people we rely on.

But how can you be sure who is reliable? If you are a Mormon you will believe that your Elders are telling the truth when they give you the story of how the Nephites colonized America; but if you are a Muslim you will consider Mormon Elders plain liars, and believe the story of the Nephites is a load of hooey.

Many people today believe many things which are untrue - because they put their faith in unreliable teachers.

It was the same in the past.

How do you become lucky?

You can't just become lucky, the luck has to find its way to you.

Well luck is good things happening to you and I have heard that Karma is if you do something unselfish toward enough people good things will start happening to you.

And there is your good luck.

One theory on how to increase your luck is that you need to be open to suggestion, e.g. if someone asks you to go out - say "yes", you never know who you will bump into - maybe someone with a good business proposition to put to you. The more people you know the more chance there is that some of them can benefit your life somehow. It's like the lottery - you've got to play the game to have a chance of winning it. If you shut yourself off at home then you have no chance of experiencing new people and situations - you need to put yourself "out there" and find your own luck.

Why is the number 7 considered lucky?

There are many reasons people consider the number 7 as being lucky.

The number 7 is referenced in many religions. The association of the number seven with luck is a connection to its ancient Hebrew association with perfection.
