The heat cause the air inside the ball to expand and undent the ball
What is the circumference of a ping pong ball?
The diameter of any sphere can be calculated by multiplying it's diameter by Pi. For a 40mm diameter Ping Pong Ball, this comes to ~ 125.6 mm. For a 38mm diameter Ping Pong Ball, this comes to ~ 119.32 mm.
The diameter of a ping pong ball is 40mm. I do not know the circumference. Before the ball was changed a few years ago to 40mm, it was 38mm. The larger ball travels more slowly and with less spin. This was done to make Table Tennis easier to watch on television, and therefore make the sport more popular. On TV, TT can appear too fast to appreciate, and by enlarging the ball it was hoped that the game would slow. The game has, in fact, slowed, but this has not accomplished the goal of popularizing the sport. Many players would love to see the ball returned to 38mm, as at this size the ball traveled more quickly and more spin was possible, making the ball's travel more manageable.
Why will placing a dented ping pong ball in boiling water take the dent out?
It fixes the dent because the heat from the boiling water makes the air inside the ping pong ball expand, causing the dent to be filled out.
How many serves in a row does each table tennis player get?
If you are playing to 11 each player gets two serves then switch. If you are playing to 21 then you switch off every 5 serves. Those are two simple scores to play to.
( At my house, once the game gets to match point we let the person who has less points serve. ) ( We do this because at my house, in order to become the winner you must win by two points. )
How high must your serve be in table-tennis?
Tall enough to bounce on your side of the table, clear the net and then bounce of the opponent's side of the table.
How high does a lacrosse and ping pong ball bounce from 240 cm?

What is the name of the song in the movie knocked up when they are playing ping pong?

If they float in water, then it is because the density of a ping pong ball is lighter than the density of water. The density of water is just below 1, and the density of a ping pong ball is much less than 1.
What is inside of the ping pong ball?
Ping pong balls are made of celluloid, a lightweight, flexible plastic. An American inventor, John Wesley Hyatt, discovered this material in the late 1860s after he experimented with a mixture of cellulose nitrate and camphor. Although it is a tough, inexpensive product, celluloid is also extremely flammable because of unstable properties. Originally Hyatt wanted to use celluloid to replace the pricey ivory in billiard balls, but he discovered this fiery danger when billiard balls made with celluloid exploded upon colliding. Celluloid was later used for a variety of products, including combs, collars, photography film, and toys, but it was slowly replaced by newer synthetic polymers. Today, celluloid is mainly used in the manufacture of ping pong balls, and because it is much lighter than other materials and has great tensile strength (causing the surface to remain stiff upon impact), it allows the balls to soar upon impact.

Why placing a dented table tennis ball in boiling water is one way to remove the dent in the ball?
The heat will cause the air inside the table-tennis ball (ping pong ball) to expand and so push the dint out.
Why is a ping pong ball pulled toward running water?
Running water moves the air next to it. Moving air has less pressure than air that is still. This is the Bernoulli principle, and helps airplanes to fly. With less pressure on one side from moving air, and more pressure on the other side from still air, the ping-pong ball moves towards the water.
The reason the ping pong ball stays in the funnel when you blow in it is because of Bernoulli's Principle. This principle states that as the speed of a moving fluid (liquid or gas) increases, the pressure within the fluid decreases. When you blow in the funnel at a high speed, the pressure around the ball decreases. Then, the pressure from the outside of the funnel (because there is air pressure everywhere) pushes down on the ball at a lower speed, which would mean higher pressure, which causes the ball to stay inside the funnel. Mind you that the bernoulli's principle is based in the wind tunnel or venturri tube and the funnel is an example of a venturri tube, so that would further explain it.
Is the gas inside a ping pong ball poisonous?
No ... the inside of a ping pong ball is filled with air. Click on the 'Inside of a Ping Pong Ball' link below to learn more.
Since the tennis ball density is less then the density dried beans the tennis ball will tend to rise and float on top of the dried beans. This would be equivalent to wood floating on water. So depending of the time and how vigorous the shaking is the ball will rise and the volume of tennis ball replaced with more dried beans.

Is there an expiry date on table tennis rubbers?
Table tennis rubbers do not have any expiry date on them but they deteriorate with age, so you'll need to replace them at regular intervals.
Dust particles penetrate the rubber causing it to lose its tackiness.
And exposure to heat, light and air also causes the rubber to deteriorate.
Professional table tennis players change their rubber extremely frequently - some players change them every day - but they don't have to buy them!
You'll need to change your rubbers when they start to lose their tackiness.
