When you die who decides wheather you go to heaven or hell?
by the acts you do. A lot of people misunderstand the word of God, I believe it is best not to believe what others say unless they can show you where they got their info. So you need to read for yourself. I learned that hadies is just the judgement plate where you go to be judged for your acts on earth. That after you die you are in limbo on earth until God calls for his people. Read the book of Revelation's. But be careful, it is symbolic in allot of ways. Research it not just in the bible but on-line and at the library and NEVER listen to someone who wants to tell you only one verse and give you what they think it means. The bible explains it self if you read it and allot of it's history has even been proven. Like for example, research on line about Noah's ark. Did you know that it has been found? The tribe that lives at the base of the mountain forbid it to be removed because it goes against their own religion. I do believe there is a higher power and there are many scriptures in the bible saying one day all our tears will be wiped away and there will be no more suffering. Please, just a little each day, just read for yourself. The book of genesis is the most boring but it even speaks of dinosaurs in it. You just have to get past all of the this man was the father of who was the father of who was the father stuff. Good luck...God bless READ King James version of the bible, it is the closest to the original you can get.

Why do Roman Catholics believe in the afterlife?
Most certainly. The belief in Heaven and Hell are both doctrines of the Catholic Faith which means they are so fundamental to the Catholic belief that to deny them is to deny the Faith. Catholics believe that the soul only has two ultimate destinies, either to spend eternity in Heaven with God, or to spend eternity in Hell without Him. The Catholic concept of Heaven consists in the Beatific Vision, this means that the soul will be able to contemplate God, to "see" Him, to its full ability and hence, the soul will be rapt in the mysteries and love it will find there. The Catholic concept of Hell is a place of absence where the soul will ever be in torment since it can never be united to its Creator, God. Catholics believe as well in the resurrection of the body and thus Heaven and Hell are physical places as well to accommodate the physical form. To this end, the body will either be glorified in Heaven or twisted and tortured in Hell by fire and cold.
Catholics also believe in Limbo and Purgatory. Purgatory is an intermediate stage used to purify souls that will go to Heaven but which yet have some temporal restitution they must make in justice. Purgatory will cease to exist at the end of the world since all souls will then either be in Heaven or Hell.
Limbo is for those souls who die without reaching the age of reason and who have not received baptism. Since they have Original Sin on their souls they cannot enter heaven, but since they have no personal sin either, they are not to suffer Hell. Thus they are placed in Limbo, a state of natural happiness.
What are christian beliefs in the afterlife?
What does the Old Testament say about afterlife?
Generally, the Old Testament does not mention life after death. Throughout the texts written before the Babylonian Exile, God's punishments had to be inflicted here on earth. The lack of an after life is highlighted in Ecclesiastes 9:5: "For the living know that they shall die; but the dead know not anything, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten." However, there does seem to have been a view held by some, of a sheol, a place of neither pleasure nor suffering, rather like a permanent spiritual semiconsciousness.
After the Exile, views began to change, with the Pharisees accepting both heaven and a resurrection of the faithful. However, the Sadducees refused to accept these new concepts. Hell seems to be a Zoroastrian concept taken up by Christianity and Islam, but not Judaism.
What was the name of the guidebook for the dead to help them on their way ton the afterlife?

They were called embalming Preists. They wore a mask of Anubis (the god of mummification) and read spells from the book of the dead.
Where do Muslims go when they die?
They wash the dead corpse. Wrap it into special cloth. Then, perform special praying on him/her in the mosque where asking Allah (God in English and same God worshiped by Jews and Christians) to forgive him/her and dwell him/her in His paradise. They bury him/her under ground and cover him/her by dust.
How were belifes in the afterlife linked to items placed in the tomb?
The Egyptians were firm believers in immortality. Thus, the Egyptian rulers prepared elaborate tombs, laden with life's necessities and luxuries, hoping to secure eternal happiness in an afterlife.
Gold jewelry, clothing, furniture, wine, food, pottery, ivory boxes, and even little slabs for grinding eye paint were all carefully placed in Egyptian tombs. It was believed that these items could be used in a life beyond the grave. In earlier times, slaves were killed and buried along with their masters, to serve them after death.
What other opinions are there about the afterlife?
I can give you the fact about the after life. If you have accepted Jesus Christ into your heart you will go to Heaven. If you haven't you will go to hell forever. The Bible clearly states this in several places.
What do Christians think about afterlife?
Most of them are scared to death; which may be an indication of the state of their faith. Solomon is quite clear that 'the day of a man's death is better than the day of his birth,' although the exact meaning of this passage in Ecclesiastes is debated. It should be noted that the human definitions of 'Christian,' and even the terms 'life' and 'death' here differ from God's definitions, and will impact an objective answer to this question.
What is the link between afterlife and moksha?
Afterlife and Moksha are the two options we have after we finish one chapter of the book called life. We are living and the body will die. The name will finish its journey. But the one who was alive has two options. The first option is an afterlife. The body dies but the mind and ego ME comes back in a new life, in a new body to settle the deeds that are unsettled. But the second opportunity, which is the ultimate goal of life, is to attain Moskha, Nirvana, Enlightenment, Liberation, Salvation, whatever you call it. When we realize we are not the body that dies, we are not even the mind and ego ME, then we realize we are the Divine Soul, and we are liberated and united with the Divine. That is Moksha. Therefore, the difference is either we come back in an afterlife or we attain Moksha.
Why is the afterlife so important to Islam?
The Egyptians believed you would go on a journey in a boat after you died to go live with the gods. People would be mummified so they don't rot on their journey and their grave filled with food so they wouldn't starve on their journey. If you were a Pharaoh or a queen, your grave would be filled with food and gems and jewels. If you were a very horrible person in life, you would cease to exist, or you would go to the true realm of the dead, where the dead walks upside down and one ray of sunlight would be wonderful for the ruler of it. There were also a lot of other places you would go in death based on your choices.
What are Muslim beliefs about the afterlife?
Differ From what?
Anyways in a nutshell the Islamic beliefs about life on earth are simple human are here to believe in God and do good. we should be thankful for whatever comes our way as God is the one who sent it our way whether to test us, punish us or reward us. for we don't know what's good and what's bad on the long run.
And the in the after life. after we die we are judged while we are in our graves. the bad are punished and the good are rewarded with the lack of punishment. after that in the day of kyama. we are all judged by God. good people go to Heaven and bad people go to Hell. (Good and bad are determined by how you obeyed God during your life). God is real so
Good question.. I'm going to give you some think and study questions: What is "heaven" and what is the "kingdom" as in the teachings of Yeshua? My personal perception is that there is a difference between the pearly gates place and the kingdom that Yeshua taught about. Do a Bible Study on it, check out crosswalk.com for that. If you check out the teachings of Yeshua (Jesus is a Greek name, if you were hanging out with the Jewish Rabbi that was the historical basis for Christianity and said "Hey Jesus, wassup?", he'd have kept walking.) he speaks of the "kingdom" in present tense. I think that's important. Also if you do a study of Judaism and how it changed during the Babylonian exile you'll find that the meaning of several key concepts changed, "heaven" was just one of them.
What is the name of the place between Heaven and hell?
Most likely Earth, however, no one knows where heaven and hell are, so no one can know whats in between them but, In me the hell is in the core and the Heaven is in next of the space so the place between Heaven and hell is the space.
//Catholics believe in Purgatory, a place between Heaven and Hell where a soul 'works' to atone for their live's sins. Family and friends are believed to pray for their loved one's soul while in Purgatory.
There are many religions that have different levels of the afterlife including the ancient Egyptians. Or a limbo-like state before reaching paradise.
Another Answer:
The answer would depend upon which Heaven and what word for hell you are speaking of. Scripurally, there are 3 heavens: the sky where birds fly, etc; Space where planets, etc are; and the very Throne of God:
Deuteronomy 10:14New International Version (NIV)14 To the LORD your God belong the heavens, even the highest heavens, the earth and everything in it.
The Scripture uses 4 words for hell: the most common is referring to the grave or pit in the Earth - in the Hebrew it is 'sheol' and the Greek equivalent 'hades.'
The Scripture only 1 time uses the word 'tartaroo or tartarus' which is a special place of restraint for the fallen angels until their final Judgement.
The last term translated as hell (all usually interchangeable in translations which is the cause of the problem) is 'gehenna' which was a burning trash site outside the City of Jerusalem's gate and refers to the Lake of Fire in Revelation.
So the narrowest answer would be between the sky and the hole in the ground or grave. The broadest would be the Throne of God and the planet Earth which has the sky and space known in between.
All other interpretations are just that and not Scriptural.
What is the afterlife of Confucianism?
Confucianism does not have an afterlife. It focuses on life on Earth.
Christianity method of reaching paradise?
What happens after death is not heavily discussed in Judaism, as the focus of Judaism is how to live this life and improve the world to the best of our ability.
There are some loose traditions as to what happens after death; primarily that after death our souls are cleansed and we return to God to wait for the world to come. Some believe that, if imperfect, we are reincarnated as a person to work to become closer to God. There is also a teaching that the soul of a person who does great evil throughout their life ceases to exist.
When a blind person dies can they see again after death if they went to Heaven?
No one knows as no one has come back from the dead that has been blind to say what has happened after death.
//I have heard a blind man declare that in a NDE (near death experience) he had sight. For the first time he was able to actually see, once he recovered his sight was gone again. It was only during the time he spent in the 'afterlife' that he had vision.//
Why was Emperor Quin worried about his afterlife?
Emperor Qin believed in an afterlife and therefore was logically quite invested in the eventual situation of his spirit. He also decided to pursue a longer material life by consuming copious amounts of minerals, including mercury. This had rather the opposite effect. The combination of dying from mercury poisoning and his ever -deteriorating, unstable mentality made him quite desperate for any opportunity of a rewarding afterlife.
What word describes the ultimate enlightenment of a soul after many deaths and rebirths?
It depens on the religion in question.
In Judaism, you may be looking for the word "tikkun." The soul has achieved its tikkun (rectification).
In Hinduism, this is called "moksha".
In Buddhism, this is called "nirvana".
Why would a certain smell in someone's house suddenly linger with you even when you get home?
We all leave something behind when we depart this life. The smell of an old jacket still in the room, cigar smoke that has impregnated the walls of the room. Time will eventually cause all of these reminding smells to go. Though I have to admit that something else may remind us of that person, a chair they sat in. Most are fancies of the mind.
