The End of the World (apocalypse)
The end of the world is a term that refers to the final events in the history of this world. It is also referred to as “end of all life” or the “end of time.”
We are going to die in 2012 everybody says we are -but why?
According to the Mayan calendar, the date at which the calendar ends is said to be December 21st, 2012. Some people believe that the Mayans predicted a great Apocalypse was going to happen on this date, and that it would be the end of the world and all chaos would break loose with massive tsunamis, hurricanes, volcanoes erupting, earthquakes, etc. Though these details are overwhelmingly scary, there is no proof that this actually will happen. Personally (don't take my word for it), I feel that none of this will happen. Maybe some major event will happen instead of a natural disaster. Again don't quote me on anything because it's just my opinion that some of this stuff may or may not happen. It's up to you whether to believe the world will end or that nothing will happen. The Mayan prediction refers to the ending of the "Fifth World". What happened to the end of the world at the end of the First, Second, Third and Fourth Worlds was that there was a political change. And so "That World" ended, and a "New World" began. So while the "Fifth World" will (allegedly) end 12/21/2012, a "Sixth World" will (allegedly) begin the very next day. Rejoice! Be happy! And don't be scared, be prepared! Knowledge IS ACTUALLY beneficial.
Was May 21 2011 Judgment Day?
This was a belief sparked by Harold Camping, a religious leader at Family Radio. Keep in mind that a few months back, they were saying the date was March 21st, 2011. They amended this date after March 21st came and went. According to this group, the world will end October 11, 2011. Apparently those few true Christians were taken up into the Rapture and we who remain behind will suffer tribulation, whatever that is, until October. Or perhaps not. Answer: No, it wasn't and was a mere hoax to confuse many who are anxious for Judgement Day so that they are listening to man and not our Creator, and to further set doubt in the minds of those who believe there will be no day of judgment at all. The Bible specifically says that no one knows when the end will come. It also says there will be many false prophets. Some points: Matthew 24:36 However, no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows. Mark 13:32 No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Acts 1:7 He said to them: "It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. Matthew 24:33 But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him. 2 Peter 2:1 But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them--bringing swift destruction on themselves. Harold Camping has selectively-chosen and therefore wrongly-interpreted Scripture. Even if any nominated date is particularly stormy, there will be absolutely no doubt whatsoever when Judgement Day arrives Matt 24 (v.27) For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Luke 17 (v.20) And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Luke 17 (v.21) Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you. Luke 17 (v.22) And he said unto the disciples, The days will come, when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and ye shall not see it. Luke 17 (v.23) And they shall say to you, See here; or, see there: go not after them, nor follow them. Luke 17 (v.24) For as the lightning, that lighteneth out of the one part under heaven, shineth unto the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day. Luke 17 (v.25) But first must he suffer many things, and be rejected of this generation. Rev 16 (v.16) And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon. Rev 16 (v.17) And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done. Rev 16 (v.18) And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great. Rev 16 (v.19) And the great city [ie Jerusalem] was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath. Rev 16 (v.20) And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found. Rev 16 (v.21) And there fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, every stone about the weight of a talent [this is about 100lbs!] : and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail; for the plague thereof was exceeding great. Final_Answer:">Final Answer: What Harold Camping did in December of 2011 and what will occur in December of 2012 is an example of what occurs when people are have not studied to show themselves learned in the word of our Father. Consider what is written: There are actually 2 judgment days written in Biblical texts (Revelation 20 identifies both), neither occurred on 21 May 2011. They will occur after all prophecy events have been fulfilled. This answer does not proclaim to cover all prophecy in this small space but here are some red letter things to learn and keep focused upon. 1) There are 3 iterations of this earth (2nd Peter Chapter 3), we are in the 2nd 2) The state of Israel fulfilled prophecy (Jeremiah 24 and the Generation of the Fig Matthew 24 and Mark 13) 3) Daniel 8,11,7 provide the lead in events to the very end of this earth iteration. The Iran deal with the US and Europe will lead to Daniel 8 occurring 4) Daniel 8 - Persia (Iran) will move to destroy Javan (most likely the state of Israel) 5) Daniel 8 and 11 a king (from the West) will move against Persia to destroy it 6) Daniel 11 - The king of the West will go away and be replaced by 4 kingdoms (just as Alexanders Generals replaced him) ... Pay special attention to the king of the South (Historically Ptolemy) and the king of the North (Historically Seleucid) 7) These 4 kind oms will make up the 7 headed beast mentioned in Daniel 7, Revelation 13, and 17. They are a repeat of the 7 headed beast mentioned in Revelation 12. 7a-Lion - 1 head 7b-Bear - 1 head 7c-Leopard - 4 heads 7d-Dreadful Terrible - 1 head 8) All of the items Christ mentions in Matthew 24, Mark 13, and Luke 21 understanding the following 8a- Nation was defined from the Greek word Ethnos 8b- famine refers to Amos 8:11 8c- Troubles is actually translated from a Greek word meaning Sedition Answer Since the Question was originally "Will the Rapture happen on May 21 2011?" and it is now 2015 as I write this, obviously the Rapture has not occurred, Accordingly, I have changed the question to omit the date. I believe the Rapture will occur simply because God said it would: it just hasn't happened yet. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 GNB [Good News Bible] (v.13) Our friends, we want you to know the truth about those who have died, so that you will not be sad, as are those who have no hope. (v.14) We believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will take back with Jesus those who have died believing in him. (v.15) What we are teaching you now is the Lord's teaching: we who are alive on the day the Lord comes will not go ahead of those who have died. (v.16) There will be the shout of command, the archangel's voice, the sound of God's trumpet, and the Lord himself will come down from heaven. Those who have died believing in Christ will rise to life first; (v.17) then we who are living at that time will be gathered up along with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will always be with the Lord. (v.18) So then, encourage one another with these words. Two individuals have also been raptured in the past: (1) Enoch Genesis 5:24 GNB He spent his life in fellowship with God, and then he disappeared, because God took him away. (2) Elijah 2 Kings 2:11 GNB They kept talking as they walked on; then suddenly a chariot of fire pulled by horses of fire came between them, and Elijah was taken up to heaven by a whirlwind. Answer Added by rburke5786 (forgot to hit "Minor Edit): Also, If May 21st, 2011 was Judgment Day, none of us would be here right now. absolutely NOT! happy May22nd

What are examples of appeasement before World War 2?
Britain and France permitted Germany to violate the Treay of Versailles by rearming and by putting troops into the Rheinland. Then they allowed Germany to take over Czheckoslovakia and Austria. At each stage of these aggressions it was hoped that Hitler would be appeased and not want to go any further. he always said, "This is my last territorial demand." But it was never true. he always wanted more. Michael Montagne Firstly, remember this is a contentious issue. Although popular opinion has turned "appeasement" into a word for cowardice, there were strong reasons (however disastrous the consequences )for pursuing it at the time. Appeasement refers to reducing your enemies through negotation. Arguably the biggest appeasement failure before 1939 was over Italy's attack on Abyssinia 1935-36(Ethiopia today). Despite the fact that Mussolini was a fascist, he was as alarmed by German rearmament as GB and France; he was therefore a potential ally against Hitler. However, GB and France, via the League of Nations, imposed sanctions on Italy for her actions. The sanctions were largely ineffective and this is why historians have cited this as an example of appeasement. It can be considered an "appeasement failure" because it succeeded in alienating the Italians, who increasingly saw the British and the French as weak. By October 1936 Italy had effectively been drawn into an ever closer alliance with Germany; therefore the British/French policy had increased, rather than decreased the threat that they faced. Many would of course argue that the greatest failure was Chamberlain's appeasement of Hitler over his claim to the Sudenten territory in Czechoslovakia. Hitler was effectively handed this key strip of land ( which contained 3-3.5 million German speakers) with the promise that this would be the last of Germany's territorial claims. This was the infamous Munich Agreement. Infamous, because within 6 months, Hitler had seized the rest of Czechoslovakia. However, some have argued that Chamberlain had no choice. The issue brough Europe within an inch of war and due to faulty intelligence about the strength of the German Luftwaffe, Chamberlain had been told that Britain was ill prepared for war at this time. What many fail to realise is that on returning from Munich, the British government began to make more earnest preparations for the war that of course did come in 1939. Therefore, although appeasement was far from our "finest hour" it can be seen as a pragmatic tactic which delayed war for a year - giving the British and the French more time to prepare for the conflict which they realised was looming

What years did you think the world would end?
I've never thought there was a particular year, but throughout history the end of the world has been predicted (it's been described as the greatest piece of vapourware ever!). Going through a few: Around 50AD; One of the earliest predictions was in the Bible which predicted the second coming of Jesus before the death of the last apostle. 992AD A scholar prophesied (the prophet died before 992AD) 999AD (essentially a nice round number since Jesus's birth). 1033AD (999 years since Jesus's death). 1186AD Astrological prediction. 1260AD Another scholar prediction. 1524AD Flood and apocalypse predicted for sure. 1532AD Various signs seen; interpreted as the apocalypse real soon. 1533AD Based on Revelations, for sure this year... 1624AD Turned out the 1524 prediction was 100 years late. This time. 1704AD Cardinal predicted end. 1736AD World flood predicted. 1881AD Somehow interpreting the Great Pyramid gets to 1881. 1936AD Another great Pyramid prediction. Special mention to Jehovah's Witnesses who predicted the end of the world in 1874, 1914 and 1975.
What is the apocalypse?
The Apocalypse is from the Greek (lifting of the veil) and usually applies to the Book of Revelation. It predicts the future, more specifically the final battle between angels and demons. This includes the battle between Christ and the "Beast" (Antichrist) at Armageddon. Both the Apocalypse and Armageddon are used metaphorically to mean the end of the Earth, or to reference Judgment Day. (see related question)

What happened to Japan at the end of World War 2?
Did you know scientists believe there is over 50000 spiecies of fish in the world?
Do Buddhist's believe the world will end?
They do. Answer: Creation and termination of the cosmos is not a big Buddhist concern. There are no creation/destruction myths like in Christianity. Eventually all sentient beings on all worlds (not just this Earth) will become enlightened and merge into Nirvana. This does not necessarily mean there will be an end to the physical Universes except that the fiction that there are physical world(s) will not be necessary at that time.
When will the end of the world be and why based on equations?
We can't calculate the end of the world based on equations. No one knows for sure when it will end and we probably won't until it does. Many say the earth will die when the sun turns into a red giant and swallows us in several billion years. However, by several billion years we will most likely have advanced enough technology to prevent the sun's demise by fueling it with more hydrogen fuel which it fuses together to create energy. Another possible way the world could end is in a nuclear fallout. Although this may wipe out humanity, there would be many ocean life that could still survive as the earth world most likely still be in one piece. As long as humans care for our earth and technologically advance enough to protect it from threats like an astroid or a dying sun, we should be able to preserve our earth for many billions of years to come.
Asked in The End of the World (apocalypse)
Is the world ending on December 21st 2012?
Short answer: No. Longer answer: No. Don't be ridiculous. Detailed answer: There are a few crackpots who claim that the ancient Mayans, a culture which apparently couldn't predict their own ending a couple of hundred years ago, believed that the world would end on or around the end of the year 2012 (there's some discrepancy here, because a lot of the people who have attempted to convert Mayan calendar dates to Gregorian (the kind we use) calendar dates have done so incorrectly). The problem is that there's really no evidence that the Mayans, as a whole, actually believed this, and there's considerable evidence that they did not. It's also ludicrous to think they had anything other than a rather shaky mythology to base this on, if they did think so. The Mayan "long count" running out of dates is, in the long run, not really any more significant than your car's odometer "turning over" to all zeros. Cars do not automatically explode when this happens; the world won't end. It's essentially just like midnight after a Saturday, when the calendar goes back to the beginning of the week and starts over again with Sunday.
