Train Travel

Walk through the tunnel that connects the 42nd Street-Port Authority Bus Terminal Station to the 42nd Street-Times Square Station.

At the Times Square Station, get the Downtown 2 or 3 (of the 1-2-3, the red line) to Wall Street (at William Street).

Take the Downtown A-C-E (the blue line) from 34th Street-Penn Station to West 4th Street.

Transfer at West 4th Street to the Downtown F train (of the B-D-F-M, the orange line) to 2nd Avenue-Houston Street or Delancey-Essex Street.

Allen Street runs north to south from Houston Street to just below Canal Street. The 2nd Avenue-Houston Street Station will drop you off a couple of blocks west of Allen Street. The Delancey-Essex Street Station is three blocks east of Allen Street, and three blocks below Houston Street.

The address 26 Federal Plaza is at the southeast corner of Worth Street and Broadway.

There are several subway lines you can take. Which one to choose depends upon which subway lines are closest to your starting point. See the Related Link below for a complete New York City subway map.

Take the 4-5-6 (the dark green line) to Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall. Depending on which exit you use, you may exit the subway at the corner of Chambers and Centre Streets, at the northeast corner of City Hall Park, OR, you may exit at the next block up, at the corner of Reade and Centre Streets.

Walk 2 blocks west on Chambers Street (across City Hall Park) to Broadway. Or, walk 2 blocks west on Reade Street (in the same direction as traffic) to Broadway. Turn right, and walk 3 or 4 blocks north on Broadway to Worth Street.

The 4 and 5 are express trains, while the 6is local.

Coming from Downtown and Brooklyn: take the R train (of the N-R-Q, the yellow line) to City Hall (on Broadway, between Murray and Warren Streets). Walk 5 or 6 blocks north on Broadway (in the opposite direction of traffic) to Worth Street.

Coming from Uptown and Queens: take the R to Canal Street (at Broadway and Lafayette Streets). If you exit on Lafayette, then walk 1 block west to Broadway, turn left, and walk 5 blocks south on Broadway (in the same direction as traffic) to Worth Street.

Coming from Manhattan or Queens: take the N or Qto 59th Street-Lexington Avenue, and transfer there to the Downtown 4 or 5 express trains, 3 stops, to Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall. See Option 1 for walking directions from the Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall station.

Coming from Brooklyn: take the N or Q to Canal Street. See Option 2 for walking directions from the Canal Street station.

Take the J-Z (the brown line) to Chambers Street (at Centre Street). This station is connected to the Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall station on the 4-5-6, so the walking directions are the same. See Option 1 for walking directions from the Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall station.

Take the 1-2-3 (the red line) to Chambers Street (at West Broadway). Walk 2 blocks east on Chambers Street to Broadway (West Broadway ---> Church Street ---> Broadway). Then turn left onto Broadway, and walk 4 blocks north on Broadway to Worth Street.

The 2 and 3 are express trains, while the 1is local.

Take the A or C (of the A-C-E, the blue line) to Chambers Street. Depending on which exit you use, you may exit at the corner of Church and Chambers Streets, or the corner of Church and Warren Streets (the next block down from Chambers). Walk 4 or 5 blocks north on Church Street (in the same direction as traffic) to Worth Street, then turn right onto Worth, and walk 1 block east to Broadway.

The A is an express train, while the C is local.

Take the E train (also a local train) to the end of the line, the World Trade Center Station.

This station is at the corner of Church and Barclay Streets. Walk 8 blocks north on Church Street (in the same direction as traffic) to Worth Street. Turn right onto Worth, and walk 1 block east on Worth Street to Broadway.

It depends on where you're coming from. The closest subway stop is the 59th Street-Columbus Circle Station on the B and D (of the B-D-F-M, the orange line), the A and C (of the A-C-E, the blue line) and the 1train (the 2 late nights), of the 1-2-3, the red line.

The 59th Street-Columbus Circle Station is at Columbus Circle (obviously), which is 59th Street between 8th Avenue and Broadway.

But, unless one of these trains stops near your starting point, you'll have to transfer. It's impossible to tell you which train you'll have to transfer from, and where, without knowing your starting point.

Furthermore, it may be worth it to take another train to another stop that is not as close to 444 West 56th, to save yourself a transfer or two. For example, if the Q train (of the N-R-Q-W, the yellow line) is closest to your starting point, then it would be better to just take the Q to 57th Street-7th Avenue, and walk the rest of the way. It'll be a slightly longer walk than from the 59th Street-Columbus Circle stop, but then you don't have to make any transfers.

It depends on whether you're going to West 66th Street or East 66th Street.

To West 66th Street, you can take the Uptown 1 train (of the 1-2-3, the red line) from 34th Street-Penn Station to 66th Street-Lincoln Center (at Broadway).

To East 66th Street, you can take the Uptown E train (of the A-C-E, the blue line) from 34th Street-Penn Station to 53rd Street-Lexington Avenue, and transfer at 53rd Street-Lexington Avenue to the 51st Street-Lexington Avenue on the 6 train (of the 4-5-6, the dark green line), and take the Uptown 6 to 68th Street-Hunter College (at Lexington Avenue).
