Yes. If you buy travel insurance online and choose to commence the insurance in 16 days time!

Obviously with all insurances you have a start date and an end date.

Different providers will have different rules but with many you can buy several months before you travel. Some travel insurance providers will let you buy annual travel insurance up to 1 month prior to travel and within 1 year of travel for single trip policies.

Can you take out travel insurance with two different companies if you are going away for more than 31 days?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

What are you taking insurance out on? And no 99% of the time you cannot have 2 insurance policy's on one vehicle, item, house or property, or in genral anything you are insuring.

The only time you can have 2 insurance policy's, if you are re-insuring something. This only really applies to the commercial side of things. Example company A is insuring the first 10 million dollars of a building. Then company B is insuring 20 million dollars of the rest of the 30 million dollar building. The building totaling 30 million dollars in value.

We are going on holiday to Spain for just over 2 months. I have free travel insurance through my bank for 31 days but it is far too expensive for the whole period. I want to insure through the bank for the first 31 then insure through another insurance company for the remaining 45 days.

The disadvantages for Travel Insurance is that they don't know whats true or not. Say your wallet gets stolen but you tell them you had nothing in there except maybe a couple dollars/pounds. They won't know if it is true or not or you might of just hidden it somewhere. That is only one disadvantage as I can not think of anymore.

How does travel insurance work?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Travel Insurance covers you for risks you might be exposed to an overseas trip. Typically, it covers death, personal accident, medical expenses, repatriation (in the event of death abroad, the cost incurred in bringing the body back to the native country), loss of checked baggage, delay in receiving checked baggage, loss of passport and third party liability.

The cost of travel insurance depends on your age, duration of travel and the countries you plan to visit. Premiums increase with age and with an increase in the duration of your stay. Also insurance for travel to the US and Canada costs far more due the high cost of medical services in these countries, than for travel too an Asian country.

Is Travelers insurance a good company?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

I used to work there. They treat their employees badly. Upper level management is completely out of touch with what's really going on and don't care. What do they care about? The dollars! Making money. They push their CSR's harder and harder every day until they all are now looking for other jobs. The ones that stay are only there because they have been there for 20 or so years and wouldn't make the salary they're making outside of Travelers.

Travelers used to be a very good company to work for but they have gotten very greedy over the past 6 years. I'm really surprised the Labor Board isn't coming down on them for making there employees work overtime without paying them. I was in that situation myself until I left. They will keep putting more and more work on you and the stress to get it done is enormous. You have no choice but to work on your own time to get it done.

As far as how they treat their customers, it's all a big front. They could care less. It's all about the dollars.

That's enough for me. Just thinking about this makes me furious. I've been out of there for 2 years now and am so happy I left.
