What Two ways by which the pitch is changed on a trumpet?

a) Change the length of the pipe by adding a crook or (on a modern valved trumpet) pressing a key. b) Change the resonant mode of the pipe you're using by pinching your lips tighter or looser. Approach B is the only one that works on a bugle, which has no valves or places to add different crooks.

Did Chris Botti play trumpet for Night Falls on Manhattan?

Wynton Marsalis was the trumpet player . See:http://www.booksamillion.com/p/Night-Falls-Manhattan/Andy-Garcia/K883929313969

Mark Isham, who composed the score, is a capable trumpet player, himself. As is Botti. Both influenced by Miles Davis. All excellent musicians, Isham,Botti,Miles could have played that solo, but not with the intonation and breath control of Marsalis.

What size trumpet mute do you get for a Yamaha trumpet?

It depends, however, most mutes are designed for a standard trumpet. If your trumpet has a large bell, 5" or larger like mine does, standard mutes do not fit properly and you must customize it by adding larger corks.

What model of Yamaha trumpet to do you have?

Is Bach Mercedes a good trumpet?

I can only speak of my experience, which does include playing a number of Stradivarius, Omega, Mercury and Mercedes models. In the balance of these horns I have to admit that the Mercedes I played was as good as any of the Strads and better than most. It may be that I was fortunate and came upon an exceptionally nice one. After all, I decided to buy it after trying it for less than an hour. The Mercury was not in fine condition and did not have the compression necessary to test it fairly. However, using a heavy oil and without much push it played very sweetly. The Omegas I've tried, and I've tried a few, were decent but fairly stuffy feeling to me despite the mouthpiece throat chosen. I should note that the Mercedes II is not in any way like the Mercedes, in fact its a decent slotting beginners model at best.

What do the numbers on trumpet notes mean?

You may be referring to fingering marks. Often times, music written for beginner players will show numbers near notes to remind the player what the fingering is for each note.

1 - hold down the first valve (the one closes to your face)

2 - hold down the second valve (the middle one)

3 - hold down the third valve (the one farthest away from your face)

Combinations of valves (12, 13, 23, 123) just mean to hold down each valve shown.

The number 0 is often used to denote an open fingering (one without any valves held down).

How do you blow your air faster on a trumpet?

The best way to blow faster air is to take a bigger breath, one in which you can feel your lower abdominal region and even your lower back expand. Keep your aperture -- the football-shaped opening in your lips -- small and focused. Imagine you are blowing a thread-like stream of air straight to a target. Release the air and maintain steady, even, but not excessive pressure. Raise your tongue to speed up the air and raise the pitch. Move only your tongue, nothing else. Imagine you are saying TAHHHHH for middle range notes and TEEEEEEE for upper register notes. Relax and listen to your sound. If it's not full, rich, and producing a note that's in tune with your tuner you need to work on all of the above.

Tips for pulling an all nighter?

Ok...

So try not to lay down or you will start to fall alseep and well...we don't want that! So keep yourself occupied (busy). Don't get bored or you wil get tired quickly. Don't watch a movie because then you will get tired more. Some fun things to do are:

1. Create an e-mail and make them msn and pretend your someone else!

2. Play a computer/video games (ex. Sims, Xbox, Wii or a Tycoon)

3. Take pictures. Really goofy so you laugh really hard.

4. Talk about people who are really annoying.

For School-related all nighters...

1. Don't panic! If you have a huge assignment or big load of homework, just remember that you can do this.

2. Ignore the internet and other technology. If you can temporarily stop your internet connection, do it.

2. Use the reward system: after x minutes of solid work, allow yourself a little food, like chocolate chips or two bites of a granola bar - whatever it takes to keep you motivated.

3. Stay awake and stay away from the bed. If you find yourself dozing in your desk chair, move to the cold ground. Other tips on staying awake:

  • Prepare a playlist. If you are the sort of person who can work with background music, find your favorite high-energy songs, preferrably without lyrics.
  • Do push-ups or other calisthenic exercises in case your muscles cramp up. I couldn't move my legs after six hours of studying, and it really won't help in class the next day!
  • Drink water! It's harder for most people to fall asleep when they are full of liquids - this also means more toilet trips to keep you awake.
  • If you trust yourself, take naps. Try not to exceed one hour. Alarm clocks are your friends!
  • If you get tired of sitting, lay down on the ground or any other place that's not sleep-inducing, and read over the material. Then go back to your workplace to write away.

4. Breathe! Smother your stress with deep and easy breathing. This will clear your head. Breathe through your nose for five seconds, then exhale through the mouth for 8 seconds.

5. Do NOT make it a habit. Even once a week is stretching it. You really do need your sleep, particularly if you are a high school student.
