Harriet Tubman is perhaps the best-known figure related to the underground railroad. She made by some accounts 19 or more rescue trips to the south and helped more than 300 people escape slavery.

The underground railroad was started to help black slaves from the southern get to Canada to gain their freedom. It was very dangerous and many people were killed, but because of the brave people who helped transport the slaves many were granted their freedom and a chance to start over in Canada.

The Underground Railroad was an important historical happening. It was developed between people who wanted to help free slaves. People traveled from the south to the north and back, using known routes to help free men.

Slaves who were in the process of escaping slavery utilized the underground railroad, which was actually a route of safe houses and clandestine means of travel to get to a state where slavery had been outlawed.

The underground railroad wasn't really a "railroad". It had a deeper meaning. The "underground railroad" was the hope that slaves may one day escape and the actions of those who helped slaves escape into freedom. People from the southern states that sympathized with the slaves helped them escape moving north. Slaves were not safe even in states that outlawed slavery because of the Fugitive Slave Act. They had to continue to Canada.

Harriet Tubman building an underground railroad, set many (by the thousands) away from slavery. Therefore they were able to start new life styles as equals to white. In doing so Blacks today might not be treated the same way as they are many thing could have happened but I am sure glad it didn't or else u might not have one of your best friends.

Harriet Tubman was an escaped slave who worked to free over 300 other people stuck in slavery. There was a large bounty on her head, so if she had been caught, the slaves would have been returned to their owner, and Tubman would have been murdered.

The underground railroad was named for the slaves' method of escape to freedom. "Underground" means the movement was secret and intentionally took place below the awareness of public officials and most members of society. The "railroad" designation took its name from the code for safe houses, which were called "stations" or "depots," and the participating abolitionists, who were called "station masters."

In many respects, the underground railroad resembled a real railroad operation in that there were fixed routes, conductors, stations or depots, and a final destination. The underground railroad was the support network for slaves' freedom train.

She was a hero in American History and changed slavery for everyone. She was a person just like you and me and she helped the whole country. she freed the slaves and took them to a safe home so they can live out their dreams and live a happy life

The underground railroad was mainly ran by Harriet Tubman. She was a slave that traveled from union states back over to the slave states over and over again helping other slaves get over to freedom. the underground railroad was a series of trails that helped slaves get to the northern states to freedom.

The underground railroad were a series of underground passages that led to "safe houses" for the slaves. The slaves could stop at these houses for food and rest without fear of being turned in. The passages, or underground railroad, led to states where slavery was illegal and therefore they gained their freedom.

That is correct. The underground railroad helped slaves escape north to free territory.
