Whose navy is better USA or Britain?

Does the us navy reuse sunken ships names?
Unfortunately, the USN did. By using the same names, as in the case of US destroyers, they're cheating the honorably deceased US Sailors and US Marines of having a vessel named after them. It also confuses people.
Once at a museum, a father was proudly teaching his young son about the model of the USS Yorktown before them, when a patron politely informed them, "...excuse me sir, but you do know that that's not the Yorktown that fought at the Midway battle, don't you?" Slightly embarrassed, the father replied that he didn't, and was informed that that was the second WWII Yorktown commissioned in the lost one's honor. No one will ever know how many countless people have walked away from that museum display with false knowledge, thanks to the Navy's use of the same names.
Possibly it's either from "spite for the enemy" ("you didn't sink us! We're still here!") or some out-dated tradition...but those brave sailors who are entombed in those sunken warships should be associated with the name of their warship forever...by not having any other warship ever using that name. In professional baseball once a "Hall of Fame" player has his number retired NO ONE IS ALLOWED TO USE IT AGAIN. At the very least, dead US Sailors should at least have that same privilege.
When did the navy adopt the navy hymn?
The Marines Hymn was adapted from an operatic air!- the official USN song- Anchors Aweigh, came out in the teens or early twenties and was adapted immediately for Naval bands at the Academy, where it became the theme song. contrary to popular opinion the whaling ditty ( Blow the Man down) was not considered as an alternate if ( Don"t ask, Don"t tell, was repealed, this is a good joke! Marines" hymn was adapted from an opera called Genevieve de Brabant- perhaps March King Sousa had some role in this. Two different songs.
Your grandpa was in the U.S. Navy what does that S 2c after his name stand for?
If he served in WW2, it's likely that he was a Seaman 2nd Class, though the rate/rank is typically shown as Sea2c, or Seaman2c. Technical or engineering rates show the first 2 or 3 letters which denote the rate - e.g., SF 2c would be a Shipfitter 2nd Class, SK2 is a Storekeeper 2nd Class.
What age could a boy enlist in Navy in the forties?
The minimum enlistment age then, as it is today, was 17, and parental permission is required. Quite a few noted sailors and Marines lied about their age and actually enlisted at 16, since records were harder to come by then.
Where can you buy US Navy Cruise Jackets?
Most areas, such as Norfolk, VA, and San Diego, CA, where large numbers of ships and shore commands are stationed, always have local embroidery shops that specialize in new Cruise Jackets. However, it's important to note that only a Cruise which isn't classified can be denoted on any publicly worn civilian clothing. Though I went on many deployments during my Navy time that others could get jackets for, I cannot because those operations (most anyway) I participated in are still classified.
Most ships' Supply Officers are normally tasked with setting up and arranging for the purchase of Cruise Jackets for any ship that has been on a significant deployment. There's always at least one good artist attached to any afloat command unit, and they're tapped to come up with a design, or if the ship already has a good source, they can utilize custom designs based on established artwork conceived by the source.
For prior service CJs, they can be obtained online from many sources, though you have to search for the one you're looking for. Many Veterans get rid of their uniforms and other military related items once they leave, only to regret it years later. But this affords others who are looking for those items the opportunity to obtain them. Others are obtained through estate auctions and sales as well.
Where did George Washington say Every post is honorable in which a man can serve his country?
In a letter to Benedict Arnold.
Do US Naval Academy graduates have to enlist in the military?
Academy graduates become Commissioned Officers, not enlisted sailors. Though there is a similar contract, an officer can resign a commission, while an enlisted sailor cannot quit. Also, an enlistment is a signed contract between the sailor and the Navy; a commission is given by Congress.
The agreement that is signed by a midshipman (whether at the Academy or through NROTC) says they will serve in the US Navy for six years in exchange for the education. If the individual does not meet the requirements for a commission, due to poor grades, poor leadership or other reasons, they can be enlisted to serve the 6 years. Typically there is a 4 year active duty requirement and that the remaining is done in the reserves.

Can someone on Zoloft join the navy?
It depends on what you're taking it for, but if it's been for any length of time and a medical diagnosis has been made concerning the usual things that it's prescribed for, and you're actively being treated for it, then it's likely a medical disqualifier.
The military generally looks at your past history; what the diagnosis is, how long you were treated, and if you're currently taking any meds for a diagnosis now. Typically they want recruits to be off meds for those kinds of problems for at least a year, with no ongoing treatment.
You can view the list of medical DQ's at the link below.
The primary record for your service and discharge?
Your DD214, which can be obtained through the Department of Veterans' Affairs details your service and discharge.
Can a prior navy reenter back into the navy?
Their prior service will decide that. If they were discharged with an Honorable Discharge, there should be no issue, as long as they are still healthy. There is usually a comment on the DD214 that references re-enlistment status.
What jobs can you get leaving the Navy as a Corpsman?
Answer
There actually are some jobs you can get, even as a 0000 or 8404 for example, in California you can challenge the CA board of nursing for a LVN/LPN and work as a nurse there (if you do so for, I believe its 1-2 years - you can transfer your license to SOME other states) or you can challenge the board (which does not have to be done in CA, you can do it in your state) and work at a naval hospital or VA office. Contact the CA board of nursing for more info. Dont listen to the first person you talk to there is such a program and you can do alot with it. Or you can get your EMT- I and work for a contracting agency i.e. Blackwater or TripleCanopy, some paying over 100K for for those willing to deploy. Also remember you get out 6 months - 1 yr early for school, if someone tells you that's not true they're lying or don't know what they're talking about. Hope this helps someone.
I am a former navy corpsman, if you don't go to C school you will have a hard time trying to work in the medical field or at least this has been my experience.

What is the navy term for rate?
In the US Military there is Rate (called many things, such as MOS), Rank, and Pay Grade. Pay Grade is E1-E9 (Enlisted), W1-W5(Warrant Officer), O1-O10 (Commissioned Officer). Rank is Seaman Recruit (E-1) to Master Chief Petty Officer (E-9), Warrant Officer (W1-W5), and Ensign (O1) to Admiral (O10) (Exceptions are the Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy, still E-9, and Fleet Admiral, still O10). Rate is a description of one's job, or "Job Rating", such as BM (Boatswains Mate), CTT (Cryptologic Technician Technical), OS (Operations Specialist), SK (Store Keeper), etc. The Navy term for "rate" is "rate" or "job rating."
The origin is British. The late quotation anthologist James B. Simpson sent me an early usage in 1997 from Tony Banks, Britain's minister of sport at the time, ''I was completely gobsmacked,'' which I dutifully posted in this space, little realizing the expression had such a future. The Oxford Dictionary of New Words reports usages from the mid-80's, defining it as ''astounded, flabbergasted; speechless or incoherent with amazement; overawed.''
A gob has to do with the mouth. It can mean ''a mass,'' as in ''gobs of money,'' from the Old French gobe, ''mouthful.'' The Gaelic gob is ''mouth, beak.'' One sense of the verb gobble, from the same French root, is ''to eat fast and greedily.'' And when a politician says a mouthful with some degree of articulation, he is said to have the gift of gab.
Why is a sailor called a gob, which has the dialect sense of ''to spit''? Because in British nautical slang of the 19th century, coast guardsmen used to tell yarns, chew tobacco and spit out the juice. The common denominator of all this gobbledygook is the mouth.
Can you join the navy with a hatchet man tattoo?
