Why does the US military still issue ration cards in Germany for tea?

I've been told that military and their dependents in Germany still get the ration cards because that part of the SOFA (Status of Forces Agreement) between Germany and the US stipulates that the military will pay US market prices for those items.

From my understanding, the US does not want to renegotiate the SOFA because the German government wants to eliminate the fuel ration and collect taxes on the gasoline used by US servicemembers. (There is probably an environmental angle as well, since the Germans are passionate about recycling and low-emissions vehicles and some Americans here drive huge gas-guzzlers)

The ration cards also include rations for hard liquor, tobacco and coffee. We've never come close to exceeding our rations of liquor and coffee, both of which we consume generous amounts. We don't smoke, so I don't know how large that ration is.

What is the maximum range in yards of the M500 shotgun?

The maximum range for the Mossberg 500 is 55 yds for shot (the Navy uses 00 buckshot), and 328 yds for rifled slugs. However, the effective ranges are about 44 yds for both, though of course slugs will do a lot more damage.

The Mossberg 500 is an outstanding shotgun, easily maintained and durable (much more so than the Remington 870, which requires repair much sooner with comparable use).

What hours do officers stand watch on naval vessels?

It depends of course whether or not you're in port or underway, but officers stand the same watch rotation as enlisted crew do. The difference is only in their watch section - in port they might have a 4 day watch rotation, where enlisted crew might have 3. Underway though watch sections are divided pretty equally among the crew.

Watches in port are typically 4 hours, and 6 hours at sea. In rare cases where there's a lack of personnel or there a lot going on, 12 hour shifts aren't unheard of (12 on, 12 off)

If a 16-year-old US citizen marries a foreign national how could she obtain permission for her husband to enter the US?

A minor in the US needs parental permission to marry. Even if the parents of the minor allowed her to marry and she would then be considered emancipated it is unlikely she would be able to apply for a spousal visa for her husband until she is of legal age. If the minor marries outside the US the marriage would be legal. A minor cannot legally leave the US without parental permission and in most cases being accompanied by an adult. A minor who left the US by illegal means and married in a foreign country would not be considered legally married in the US.
