Volunteering

There are petitions around for support of gay marriage if you can find one you can sign it. You can also vote for candidates and political parties that publicly support same-sex marriage. You can make donations to the campaigns of pro-marriage equality candidates. You can write letters to your state and federal lawmakers letting them know that the issue is important to you. You can speak to your friends, family members, neighbors and co-workers concerning the issue and thereby raise public awareness.

Anybody can be a volunteer and who's do any activities without greediness for others. Volunteering work program carried out for the improvement of the society, Eco system, animals and environment that are a part of the earth. Volunteer work programs may healthcare - Medical, Childcare, and Teaching, Wildlife and Conservation, Disabled care, Women Improvement and so more other activities.

At 11 you are a bit young to volunteer. Usually, they want someone closer to 15 or 16 years old. Ask at your church if you can help with the little kids in Sunday school. Sometimes libraries also have reading programs where people read to little kids one day a week. If you are a good reader they would most likely be glad to have you read.

There are several websites specializing in global volunteering opportunities such as Global Volunteer Network and Global Crossroad. Small scale volunteer organizations in ones community would also likely have information on this.

Well, volunteering is the way to help others selflessly and without expecting anything in return. But if you want, you can take up work as per your interest and learn about a topic that you are curious about. You would get a hands on experience in the said field which would shine on in your resume forever.

Really, it depends on the specific shelter, but probably yes. If you are afraid of dogs, they will probably just let you help with the cats. They should appreciate any volunteer work they get.

How young are we talking here? To be honest, there's loads of volunteering work. You can work in charity shops, or go and help out with Brownies etc. You can offer to walk dogs at rescue centres, or what I've been doing for about 2 years now (I'm 16, almost 17) is working at Avon Riding Centre of the disabled, which is pretty satisfying.
