I think when it comes to being a volunteer at 11 yrs old, I'd try Best Friends Shelter.

If a volunteer wants to do something, they will have to be checked out. Things that might be checked would be things like if they have a criminal record, if the qualifications they claim to have are genuine, if it is safe for them to work with certain kinds of people, if their health is suitable for the tasks they may have to undertake etc. All of this is known as volunteer screening.

I was in the exact same situation when I was 12. I contacted a few shelters and now i walk dogs and bottle feed them. Awesome job!

You need to contact your local shelter and ask what the volunteering rules are. At some shelters, children under 16 can only work when a parent or guardian is with them. At other shelters, no-one under 16 or 18 can work. It depends on state and local laws.

If it is truly a 'volunteer' organization, there are no statutory laws that cover this. Simply take a vote of the membership on the expulsion question and inform the individual that they are no longer welcome in the group.

There are advantages and disadvantages of alternative service delivery.

The advantages to using alternative service delivery is that it is generally more effective and efficient in it's processes. Private companies seek to make profits where as Government agencies seek to deliver a service with a set budget. They have very different intentions and time spans for delivering these services.

In Canada there are certainly disadvantages to using private contractors. It essentially undermines or undervalues the work of the public service. This can create a problem especially in Canadians Parliamentary Democracy. The current government known as the 'government of the day' must find balance between alternative service delivery and public service delivery.

Usually only low budget movies will take unpaid volunteers. You'll have to do your homework and try to find out who is shooting a video or low budget movie in your area, contact the production coordinator and ask if they can use some help. Many people who have careers today in motion picture production started out that way.

A statutory organisation is one that has to exist - by law. Examples would be the police services, county and town councils.

Well I think you could offer to walk your Neighborhood dogs.... Right now im 10 and im in the process of trying to volunteer at an Animal Shelter or a Humane Society.... I talked to my mom about it and she said she would call the 3 local Shelters I told her about.... Today she called them but they didn't answer :( sooo i hope i can... if i can i keep you psted

This will depend upon the age of the teenager - a 13 year old isn't going to be doing much of anything except watching, while an 18 year old may be allowed to handle boarded animals on his/her own.

Most vet clinics don't take volunteers - they will hire people for part-time positions such as kennel assistant, janitor or other non-medical positions. These individuals typically do menial-type work: talking dogs for a walk, cleaning cages and litter boxes, feeding and watering the animals in house, cleaning exam rooms between clients, restocking supplies, cleaning the rest of the clinic such as mopping and dusting, etc. Over time, a mature individual with a good work ethic will be taught the basics of handling animals and medical procedures and may work up to being a vet assistant.

i think you have to be 16 or 15 to get a job there
