What kind of key does a 2005 Volvo vnl780 use?
There's nothing special about it. It's not microchipped, or anything of that sort. As for finding out if you can get blanks, or if you'd have to get one ordered from a dealer specifically for a certain truck, you'd have to contact a Volvo Trucks dealer - I really don't have the answer to that.

What people think about 2012 VOLVO VNL64T-670 TANDEM AXLE SLEEPEr?
Volvos are a nuisance to work on, especially with the VE-D engine.. and definitely do NOT go for the D16... there's a whole plethora of people on this world wide interwebz who've had nightmares with that one. As far as SCR-equipped trucks go, it's reasonable. Volvos do ride nicely for having such short wheelbases, and they include some pretty nice creature comforts. If you're going with a Family 1 Cummins (ISX up to 450 HP), you'll probably end up with a 10 speed and 3.36 rears... IMO, a bit short for my liking, but plenty of fleets run 80k with that setup (and some even run 3.25s) without too much issue. Your jake brakes will suck compared to pre-2009 engines. Just the way it is.
Volvos do have their share of electrical issues, but no manufacturer is perfect regarding that.
If you go with a Volvo engine, you'll have three filters in the oil filter housing... one is a bypass, and it is notorious for getting stuck on there. Also, if it has Volvo's fuel/water separator, it sits next to the secondary fuel filter, and can be a real pain in the nuts, especially as the electrical connector for it has really thin and delicate pins, and yes, you have to unplug it to service it.
Volvos use a lot of sealed u-joints and such, which makes greasing them more convenient, though it's not something I'm particularly warm and fuzzy about. If it has all-around air ride, and you're not used to that, it's gonna take some time to adjust - especially on slick roads. It's not more prone to slippage, but it'll feel like it is. The ones with air ride on the steer axle also seem to do poorly at holding alignment.
Personally, I'd never own an aftertreatment truck without also owning the diagnostic software for the engine, but that's just me. Cummins Insite is quite user-friendly, but take a course on it before you go out and buy it. You'll also need a diagnostic link adapter... I'd recommend going with NexIQ. Cummins will recommend theirs (Inline 6), but it's only advantageous in any way only to an actual Cummins tech... anything you'll need to do with it can be done just fine with NexIQ, plus you can read the ABS ECU with it.
If you need to have engine work done, you'll have a lot more options with the Cummins... any Freightliner/Western Star, Peterbilt, Kenworth, Mack, Volvo, International, Cummins, etc. dealer can work on it, as can a much wider selection of third-party shops (although I'd never let the major truck stop chains like T.A./Petro, Flying J/Pilot, Love's, et. al. touch any truck of mine), whereas your only options with the Volvo engine will be Volvo and Mack dealerships.
Where is the fuse box on a Volvo semi truck?
On a VNL, VHD, NH, or VED series, you pull out the cup holder from the center of the dash.. there are two screws there - whether they require a Phillips head or a Torx bit, I don't remember offhand. Remove those screws. Then, you can pull that panel up, and it'll expose the fuse and relay panel.
How do you remove the fuse box on Volvo 940?
To remove the fuse box on a Volvo 940, first disconnect the car battery to ensure safety. Then, locate the fuse box, which is typically found on the driver's side, near the dashboard. Carefully unscrew or unclip any securing fasteners, and gently pull the fuse box away from its mounting.
