Special features about Wales?

# The weather. It rains all the time, and this more than anything defines Wales and the Welsh people. # Sheep. There aren't actually many of them left since the sheep industry was exported wholesale to New Zealand. But people still think of sheep when they think of Wales, so it counts as a "special feature". # The Welsh language. Nothing like English. Said to be the oldest language in Europe. Fiendishly difficult to learn. # Coal mines. There are actually none of them left working due to the success of the Thatcher government in crushing the entire industry, but you can visit a disused one in Blaenavon called Big Pit. # Catherine Zeta Jones. # Rugby. Contrary to popular misconceptions there never was a golden age when Wales was good at rugby, and nobody in Wales has actually played the game since the invention of the Playstation. # Suicide. A small town in South Wales became the teenage suicide capital of the world as a result of catastrophically poor ability among journalists to interpret and understand statistics. # Being next to England. Which became famous in the nineteenth century as home to the industrial revolution, which was fuelled in part by wood chopped down in, you guessed it, Wales. # Welsh rarebit (or "Welsh rabbit"). Basically cheese on toast. Nobody actually makes it any more because it's less bother to phone Dominos. # There probably is a 10 but I can't think what it might be at the moment.

Where does the black boy inn get its name from?

If you're talking about the Black Boy Inn in North Wales(www.black-boy-inn.com). It is my understanding the name stems from a story from the 18th century. Where the Black Boy Inn is located today, it is said that there were two public houses there; the Fleur de Lys and King's Arms. One landlord bought the other one out and created the one Inn. He had a little black boy as a go-fer, working in the Inn. When the sailors came to Caernarfon on the ships, they would follow the little black boy to the Inn, and it thus became known as the Black Boy Inn. ~ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Boy_Inn

Did baseball originate in South Wales in the UK?

"The game of Rounders has been played in England since Tudor Times, with the earliest reference being in 1744 in "A Little Pretty Pocketbook" where it is called Baseball. It is a striking and fielding team game, which involves hitting a small hard leather cased ball with a round wooden or metal bat and then running around 4 bases in order to score" Source:

So it appears that it was England as opposed to Wales where Baseball was invented. The British invented baseball as inactive children in England needed some mild exercise so the game was created as a result. In Commonwealth nations its played by many kids up to age 11.. while its very popular as a girls game with UK having organised nationwide Leagues.

Baseball/Rounders the British (England) invented as an activity for unfit small kids, pitch, bat and run around 4 bases. 200 + years later its still very popular today among British kids up to 5th Grade.. girls have formalised competitions. I have checked and its popular among this age group in Cardiff and Swansea, South Wales. Reference..Baseball comes from Britain...

**People ask with Spalding guide of America in 1887 naming it 'World championship Series' attempting to entice other countries to play it of which it states Australia and Great Britain... why they don't play it, a major reason for this is the British invented Baseball aka Rounders and its historically been for children for whom it was intended.
