What problems faced early settlers in Western Australia?

The early settlers in Australia faced a variety of challenges. The Australian bush was a complete mystery and challenge to them. The hardwood trees needed to be cut down for farmland, and this was not easy, as the tools easily broke. To even cut a path through the bush would require machetes.

Isolation was a huge factor. Large tracts of land were required to make a living, so settlers had to move away from established areas, and often would not see their neighbours for weeks at a time. There was the constant fear of the indigenous people, the Aborigines, as they were not understood, and were feared as violent, although they rarely attacked unprovoked.

The weather was a big factor. The heat and humidity was like nothing any of the early settlers had ever experienced. It was difficult to work in such conditions, but sudden squalls, or thunderstorms, made farming unpredictable.

What are the ride prices at the royal Melbourne show?

We went to the Melbourne show yesterday and the cost for rides were ridiculous. Some were up to seven dollars, so if you have a big family the costs soon add up. There were cheaper rides in the small kids section but they soon add up as well. What really peeved me was the long euro slide, which was three dollars per child per ride, which was over in ten seconds. Ten dollars each to put the kids on the bungie jumpers. Over near the dog sheds there were signs up for 10 rides for $20. Some lady had tickects because she said her kids didn't like the rides, so we bought the rest off her, to find (ALSO) that the tickects were not for all the rides in that area (and they were the least interesting rides out of the lot.) We were lucky to get out of there for around $350. $75 to get in. That's an extremely expensive day out and we said no to the kids all day because we could have been stung for a lot more.

Are laser pointers illegal in Western Australia?

As far as I can see there was a movement for them to be outlawed in Western Australia but I'm not sure if it was accepted and that they are now illegal. So If anyone can answer my question I'd be much abliged as I'm looking into buying one. Usually laser pointers with a power < 5mw is less dangerous for human eyes. And the laws in most countries don't forbid 5mw green laser pointers and 5mw red laser pointers. The laser pointers with IR filter is even better. You can choose beamq low power laser pointer.
