instructions to recover your files ..

this method only works if you locked one of your own personal folders and did not use the folder that opens up automatically when u run the folder lock software... they give this folder a name like vault or chest or something to that effect....

start your computer in safe mode and ACCESS THE ACTUAL FOLDER.... DO NOT RUN THE "FOLDER LOCK" PROGRAM. just navigate through explorer to the folder that you locked and it will open as normal...once in the locked folder copy or cut your files to another location then reboot in normal mode and your files will be in the new location.

i am using windows 7 ultimate and it worked as simple as that...

i don't know how to get rid of the 'folder lock' program itself without the password unless you reformat the hard drive, but at least with this method u will be able to access and move out your files from the locked folder.

once you move your files to another location, the locked folder will be empty and take up the same space as a regular empty folder so it wont be robbing your space..and the folder lock program is very small it wont have any devastating impact on your hard drive space, it can be ignored.

That will depend on how the recovery disc is structured. If it uses the manufacturer's own imaging program to create the system on the disk, it will likely not work with another computer. If it uses the usual Windows installer, it should work.

Regardless of whether you can install Windows from the disc, it will usually not be activated and you will have to purchase another license key to use it on that computer.

to reset your IP address using DHCP click on the start menu

then in the search box typ CMD

in the CMD box that comes up type ipconfig /release

wait 5 seconds and then type ipconfig /renew

this will release the ip address assigned and request a new address from the DHCP server.

You can't do an incremental upgrade between Windows XP and Windows 7. Although you can buy an upgrade version of 7, when you perform the upgrade the previous installation (and any previously installed data and applications) are removed.

If you bought the machine with Windows XP, you should run the Microsoft Windows 7 compatibility check (downloadable from the Microsoft website) to check that your machine and peripherals will actually run Windows 7.

So, to safely perform the upgrade you must back up all your data (you do that anyway, right?) and make sure you have the original installation disks and registration keys for your applications. If you have older applications which need to run on Windows 7, it would be wise to check that they work with 7 or, at least, aren't 16 bit applications (ie designed for Windows 98) before installing the 64 bit version.
