How do you edit the hosts file in Windows 7?
Editing the hosts file in Windows is very similar to doing it in XP, except that you need to be an administrator to save your changes. First, open Notepad as an administrator. This can be done by right-clicking on the Notepad icon in the Start menu. Once Notepad opens, open the hosts file from C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc. Make your changes and then Save.
What is importance of empty registry keys in scan?
There is little importance in these, actually. However, it is not a bad idea to remove them. If you have a large number of empty keys, the system will have more useless information to dig through in the registry, which may cause it to run a little more slowly.
Well this is what a know so far, hope it helps... same thing happen to me last night. I checked for virus and spyware (with norton and windows defender) the notebook was clean, but the problem persisted.
Just this morning I wrote to HP Costumer Care, here is what they said:
"The issue could be due to corrupted operating system files, incorrect
Internet settings, etc..
I request you to perform the following options on your notebook in order
to isolate and resolve the issue.
If the issue persists, then please perform the full recovery in order
to resolve the issue.
For more information about Using HP Recovery Manager, please refer the
below link :
Select the option Restore PC to original condition with the Recovery
Manager if Windows Vista cannot be accessed in the link:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&docname=c00809678
NOTE: Clicking the link may give an error indicating it is
invalid. Copy and paste the entire link in a new browser window.
This should resolve the issue."
I haven't tried anything yet.
Also, I read on a forum that someone with the same problem turned off User Account Control and that solved the issue.
I'm going to try to change the folder options, then I'll try to turn off the Usser Account Control (which is pretty much an useless application) and finally I'll try the recovery.
The worst part is that since the message appears about every 8 seconds you don't have much time to work in the solution, try over and over again till you do it fast enough

Why would a computer not boot from a Windows XP disk?
the disk could be very scratched up and not able to be used
Or, This is what I have found out for myself after repairing a computer that was nuked by a virus, Your computer is set up to boot from drive c, and whenever turned on will attempt to do this. What you need to do is watch your screen when the computer first begins to start up, there will be a message that flashes at the bottom telling you how to enter the setup utility, do this.. Now change the boot device to your disk drive where you have the xp disk and restart. Remember to change it back after you have fixed the problem that was keeping it from booting up from the hard drive.
It's depend on what you mean by "intel 4".
If you mean "pentium 4" : yes, it is fully compatible with windows 7 32-bit and some models of pentium 4 can run the 64-bit version too.
If you mean "80486" (or 486) : no, that processor can't run Windows 7 or even XP.
Where can you find a good tutorial or how-to guide on installing Windows 7?
Hi,
I recently came a very nice article that guides you through the whole process step by step. It has screenshots and details for each of the steps involved. I have actually saved it and gave it to my IT department's manager to use for their internal documentation. Here is the link:

How do you connect your Sony VAIO laptop to a d-link router?
There are a couple of ways to do this: wired and wireless. If you want to have a wired connection, then all you need to do is run an Ethernet cable from one of the four switched ports on the back of the router to the Ethernet port on the laptop and after a few seconds of the laptop and router negotiating, you should be online.
On the other hand, if you want to be able to move around or would rather not have a network cable "tying" you down to one certain area or stringing along behind you like a high-tech leash, then you can configure your wireless network adapter in the laptop to connect to the router by telling Windows to connect your computer to the appropriate wireless network (SSID) and giving it the appropriate keycode to access that network. By default, there should also be a checkmark in the box "Connect automatically" so that anytime you start up the computer and it detects that wireless network, it will connect to it and get you online without any further ado.
If you have more questions about this, feel free to drop me a line and I will be glad to help you further..
How can you make your computer restart if the wrong password is entered to log on?
I don't understand your question. The first answer that comes to mind is to enter the correct password, but surly that's not what you meant. If you mean you entered the wrong password so many times it locked you out, but you now think you know the password, you can try removing power and restarting.
If these weren't what you meant try re-asking your question.
