The following information is from the National Collegiate Wrestling Association 2005-2006 Wrestling Plan:

Article 2 - ELIGIBILITY OF WRESTLERS

NCWA wrestlers are limited to a total of 4 years of competition (consecutive or not) in the NCWA, NCAA,NJCAA, NAIA or any national organization and any combination thereof, one year of which may be while enrolled in a Graduate School program for a degree (not just attending post-graduate classes).

Student/Wrestlers must be currently enrolled and attending a minimum of 6-units during the NCWA season regardless of the school's academic calendar. While you are competing, if classes are in session, you must be attending classes.

An institution shall not permit any wrestler to represent their team in collegiate competition within the NCWA unless that wrestler maintains the minimum academic eligibility requirements of that institution. Students must be satisfactorily progressing toward a degree.

It is the responsibility of the individual wrestler and his coach to monitor academic status. The NCWA does not track individual academic performance but will uphold the academic institution's decisions regarding eligibility.

All Student/Wrestlers must electronically register with the NCWA in order to be eligible for practice, travelor to compete on or for any NCWA member institution. No wrestler may practice, compete or travel in any NCWA event until their Electronic Individual Wrestler Registration and their Waiver and Release of Liability Form have been properly completed and submitted to the NCWA. Deadline for submitting the Electronic Individual Wrestler Registration is February 15th of each season.

Any NCWA team that enters an ineligible wrestler in competition in an NCWA event shall forfeit all competitions in which the ineligible wrestler competed. All team points and all individual "National NCWA Points" will be lost to the team and its members. Additional violations may result in sanctions and fines, included but not limited to, a team being banned from competition within the NCWA for a year or longer.

Consider contacting the NCWA for their current guidelines or consulting your team coach.

How do you join the WWE if you have no wrestling experience?

Training and Conditioning

Step1 Take up a sport other than wrestling. Many WWE wrestlers started as well-rounded athletes playing football or other sports. You don't need to be a world-class athlete, but you should be conditioned as a wrestling match is a strenuous activity.

Step2 Take up amateur wrestling in school. Having a background in actual competitive wrestling has never been required, but it will help. Fans are growing more and more to like wrestlers that can pull off actual wrestling moves.

Step3 Attend professional wresting schools. The WWE does not personally sponsor any schools, but there are many independent schools and some sponsored by smaller wrestling companies. Check online to find a school near your area.

Step4 Take acting or speech classes. Remember that WWE wresting is a mix of sports and theater. You need to be an entertaining character as well as an athlete.

The Pro Wrestling Ladder

Step1 Try out for a smaller, independent wrestling organization. This is the same as starting in the minor leagues in major league sports. The big difference is you will have to rely on yourself to move upward.

Step2 Get a tryout in Ohio Valley Wrestling, located in Louisville, Kentucky. This is the official training ground for the WWE, and almost all their wrestlers come from here.

Step3 Move up to the WWE to perform in dark matches. You will first take part in matches put on for the live fans before the televised matches. From here, you will likely move on to Heat, the WWE's webcast show.

Step4 Move up to WWE television shows. Your character will be assigned to either Raw, SmackDown or ECW. Many consider Raw to be the cream of the crop because it's televised live.

Is professional wrestling fake?

Wrestling as seen in the WWE and related shows is almost entirely fake in the sense that those moves are all carefully choreographed and practised. However, each fight is only given a general outline; the winner is predetermined, but until the end, anything goes and the fighters are taught how to put on a show. There's a bit more.

Make no mistake about it, those who "compete" in the professional wrestling seen on TV are strong, capable athletes in every sense of the word. They could (and do!) end up hurting each other frequently, but this is done relative to the show they put on. Though the winner of a match is predetermined, these individuals go at it for real. Any "regular" individual in a ring with any one of these wrestlers would end up getting a thrashing.

Wrestling as seen in the Olympics (the Graeco-Roman style) and as done in high schools and clubs in several countries is very real. But is more like the wrestling you would expect of two people who are actually physically competing against each other in an attempt to actually win a match. These wrestling events are conducted to actually let the wrestlers determine between them who will win.

What is the growth hormone that Brock Lesnar was arrested for in 2001?

Brock Lesnar, the World Wrestling Entertainment champion, was once arrested for illegally possessing steroids, though the felony charge against the 26-year-old athlete was dismissed four months after his January 2001 arrest. Lesnar, pictured in the below mug shot, was popped by Louisville Division of Police detectives after receiving and opening a parcel that cops said contained a "large amount of steroids." Lesnar, a 295-pound former college wrestling champ, was in Kentucky training at a WWE facility. Hit with a trafficking in controlled substances charge, Lesnar was exonerated when tests showed that the seized pills were not, in fact, steroids. While a Louisville detective told TSG that the material was some kind of growth hormone, Lesnar's defense attorney, Scott Cox, characterized the confiscated pills as a "vitamin type of thing." According to Cox, officers seemed "very apologetic" when lab results cleared Lesnar. It is unclear how investigators concluded that the parcel sent to Lesnar may have contained illicit substances.

Who was named 1 wrestler by Pro Wrestling illustrated in 2008?

Pro Wrestling Illustrated puts out a yearly list of the "Top Ranked Wrestlers". For 2008 they named Randy Orton as the number one pick.

They also have a yearly list of "Wrestler of the Year". For 2008 they named Triple H as their pick for this title.

Is wrestling real or acted?

Both. The story lines are just that, stories. The wrestler allow each other to do the moves to each other; and while the wrestlers may fake being hurt in the ring, there are definitely serious injuries involved in Pro-Wrestling. There is no way to fake falling from 15 feet in the air and land on concrete. The blood is real. Often the wrestlers will cut themselves with concealed razors to help sell the match as a real fight. You have to think of Pro-Wrestling as theater and the wrestlers as actors. I have known many Pro-Wrestlers in my day and I can tell you, when you watch a show like WWE Raw, you will be hard pressed to see a wrestler who isn't wrestling night-in, night-out with slipped discs, broken bones, torn ligaments, separated shoulders or any other of a thousand potential injuries. These men go out to entertain you as often as 5-6 times a week and do it often in a lot of pain because of the love of the business.

So to make a long story short, the stories are fake, the fight it fake, but the danger is real.
