I weened myself off of Zoloft over a 6 month period and was down to 12.5 mil per day. I skipped 2 days last week and decided on Sunday to take my dose to alleviate the ZAPS. This didn't work, but I did manage to get into a huge fight with my husband over the PlayStation which ended with me crying for 30 minutes about who knows what. I haven't taken any since Sunday and it is now Thursday. I am still dizzy, tired and the ZAPS are so annoying. I am having a hard time concentrating and I'm super tired. I hope that the withdrawal symptoms go away soon. I'd like to get back to my life.
You need to ask yourself if your sanity and your relationship with your family is worth your need to stop taking this medication...Normally speaking, you do not stop taking anti-depressants once you start them. I do not think it is withdrawals you are experiencing, it is the levels of serotonin that your body is being depleted of. The neurotransmitters are going wacko, because it was as a safe level and you stopped taking your meds. Best thing you could do, is either get another prescription soon, or try another anti-depressant.
Is it safe to tan while taking Zoloft?
You can go tanning but you might burn easier or get a rash. I found out after going tanning on a few occassions I have broken out and then eventually gotten sun burnt and never increased my time of 10 minutes and I take Zoloft regularly. Not everyone has this reaction though so you might luck out.

Ive been taking xanax and zoloft for a little over a month and i take them together at times. Ive noticed minimal changes but not adverse affects of taking the two together. I take em together when im having a really bad day

You may want to ask your doctor this question but nowhere have I read or been told that depression/anxiety meds and diet pills decrease the effectiveness of the depo shot. If you told your doctor you were taking those meds, I am sure he/she wouldn't have suggested the depo shot if it was known effectiveness would decrease. That is why it is good to get contraceptives from a doctor because they know your medical history and know exactly what is best for you.

I'm fifteen and I'm on the generic of Zoloft, which is Sertraline. I take started with 100 mg, went up to 200 mg at one point, and am now at 150 mg. It hasn't really affected me. At one point I was having trouble with overheating, which we think was from a sleep aid. I do have some issues with controlling my temperature nowadays, but it's not bad enough to make me alter my medication intake. Hopefully this helps.

I'm 17 and I've had some very bad experiences with zoloft. I've been on it for about seven months. For most of that time (on 50 and 100mg), I was fine. However, when I went from 100 to 75mg (due to symptoms of hypomania), I became suicidal on and off for about two weeks. However, this problem seems to have stopped now that I'm back on 50mg. These thoughts were unusual for me, although there is some chance that the suicide of a close friend could have led my own depression to become more severe. I would say give it a shot. Most people do not have suicidal thoughts while on it. And if you do, tell your doctor immediately and they can fix it very quickly. As long as you are not already suicidal and impulsive, I would give it a chance. If there is an unusual danger for you, your doctor will probably see it. They are normally pretty smart that way, after all, it is their job.

The original poster of this answer below did not indicate which medication they were withdrawing from or which dosages. The important information is that they recommend a taper down. Zoloft can be tapered very slowly into very small doses. Wellbutrin can be taken in small doses ( a 75 mg can be cut in two). The higher formulations of Wellbutrin can not be cut. Before cutting a pill of anysort both your doctor and a pharmacist should be consulted.
I had major withdrawel symptoms - nausea, vomiting and shakes for 10 days. I HIGHLY recommend "stepping" off these drugs and not stopping cold turkey.

Doctors in the US prescribe chemical compounds, so your prescription will read "sertraline".

If you have no prescription and you ask your pharmacist just "sertraline" they may give you Zoloft (original drug, from the maker who initially hold the patent) or other other product that contain the same drug (called 'generics').
