Can Zoloft cause men to produce breastmilk?

I am currently breastfeeding my 6 month old child and have started taking 100mg of zoloft daily. It was prescribed by my Internal Med doctor for anxiety and insomnia. She says that it is safe for breastfeeding moms and their babies. Please check with your own doctor first!

Can you take steroids while on Zoloft?

Yes, but be forewarned that steroids can exacerbate the symptoms that Zoloft normally treats.

What is the starting dose of Zoloft?

50 - 300 mg day - but no more than 400 mg day

Does Zoloft stop working over time?

It's not that the medicine stopped working. After 10 years, your body has changed enough that the old dose isn't strong enough. SSRI medicines work by blocking the body's chemical process of breaking down serotonin - in depression, this process takes too much serotonin out of the brain, so the medication helps to restore proper levels.

Many doctors will switch between between two, or even three SSRI medications in situations like this. Once you switch out and have a "wash out" period, you can switch back to the Zoloft again and it will once more work out fine.

UGH! GASP! PUKE! How could you stand that stuff?

It put ME in the hospital.

Is Zoloft a sedative?

No.

Zoloft (sertraline) isn't a narcotic. It's an antidepressant.

Is it safe to take Zoloft and keflex pulvules capsules together?

These two drugs should be safe to take together. To be sure that this is a good combination of medications for you, check with your doctor.

How long does it take side effects to stop after you stop taking zoloft?

I weened myself off of Zoloft over a 6 month period and was down to 12.5 mil per day. I skipped 2 days last week and decided on Sunday to take my dose to alleviate the ZAPS. This didn't work, but I did manage to get into a huge fight with my husband over the PlayStation which ended with me crying for 30 minutes about who knows what. I haven't taken any since Sunday and it is now Thursday. I am still dizzy, tired and the ZAPS are so annoying. I am having a hard time concentrating and I'm super tired. I hope that the withdrawal symptoms go away soon. I'd like to get back to my life.

You need to ask yourself if your sanity and your relationship with your family is worth your need to stop taking this medication...Normally speaking, you do not stop taking anti-depressants once you start them. I do not think it is withdrawals you are experiencing, it is the levels of serotonin that your body is being depleted of. The neurotransmitters are going wacko, because it was as a safe level and you stopped taking your meds. Best thing you could do, is either get another prescription soon, or try another anti-depressant.

Is it safe to tan while taking Zoloft?

You can go tanning but you might burn easier or get a rash. I found out after going tanning on a few occassions I have broken out and then eventually gotten sun burnt and never increased my time of 10 minutes and I take Zoloft regularly. Not everyone has this reaction though so you might luck out.

Does Zoloft cause weight gain?

My doctor told me Zoloft would help me lose weight when she prescribed it for depression, but it has had the exact opposite effect on me; I have been gaining weight and was so leveled off I was almost emotion free so I went off it cold turkey and am not so hungry but am anxious, achy, tired and irritable. I have noticed a desire to be more active and busy and am also able to focus. I had an awful time with constipation and lack of sex drive..none of which I was told might happen.

Can Zoloft affect period?

Researchers have found that a small percentage of women taking 20 mg of fluoxetine daily report a lengthening or shortening of their menstrual period of up to four days. But the antidepressant seems to have a beneficial effect on pre-menstrual syndrome symptoms.

Will 2900mg of Zoloft Kill You?

It depends on a number of things, including body weight, drug interactions, and the body's reaction to the dose. The LD (fatal amount) in animals is 250mg/kg. So at 1400mg/body weight in kg it's less likely, though still possible to fatally overdose. Signs of overdose include severe ataxia, coma, decreased heartbeat, decreased state of consciousness, rolling eyes, and seizures.

Even if this does not happen, due to the OD, you're still at elevated risk for SJS, which is fatal in 5 to 35% of cases. If the SJS spreads it becomes TEN which has an even higher mortality rate.

So yes, while unlikely, a 1400mg dose of Lamictal can kill you.

Are there drug interactions with Zoloft and Amoxicillin?

this is definitely a question you should consult with your doctor.

im not quite sure if an antidepressant and an antibiotic would react, but its not the kind of thing to leave to chance.

Can you take Zoloft and citalopram together?

NEVER!Coadministration with fluoxetine may significantly increase the plasma concentrations of some tricyclic antidepressants (TCAs) especially nortriptyline.

The combination of fluoxetine (or any other selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor) and a TCA such as nortriptyline may potentiate the risk of serotonin syndrome, which is a rare but serious and potentially fatal condition thought to result from hyperstimulation of brainstem 5HT1A receptors.

BTW, I once had serotonin syndrome; it was no picnic! I nearly died.

Do Zoloft and Stacker2s affect Depo-Provera?

You may want to ask your doctor this question but nowhere have I read or been told that depression/anxiety meds and diet pills decrease the effectiveness of the depo shot. If you told your doctor you were taking those meds, I am sure he/she wouldn't have suggested the depo shot if it was known effectiveness would decrease. That is why it is good to get contraceptives from a doctor because they know your medical history and know exactly what is best for you.

Is zoloft safe for a 17 year old male to take?

I am a zoloft user i am 20 but if you go to your doctor and tell her your problems they will definitly put you on a low dosage like 20mg

Zoloft is a common antidepressant belonging to a class of drugs known as SSRIs. (Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors). Although very commonly prescribed, they have been liked to an increase in suicidal thoughts in young people. Zolfoft along with the other SSRIs sould be monitored by health care professionals particularly when prescibed to adolescents.

Best wishes to you.

I've been taking it since I was 16, and now I take 100mg per day and it helps me.

_____________

I'm fifteen and I'm on the generic of Zoloft, which is Sertraline. I take started with 100 mg, went up to 200 mg at one point, and am now at 150 mg. It hasn't really affected me. At one point I was having trouble with overheating, which we think was from a sleep aid. I do have some issues with controlling my temperature nowadays, but it's not bad enough to make me alter my medication intake. Hopefully this helps.

-----------------------------

I'm 17 and I've had some very bad experiences with zoloft. I've been on it for about seven months. For most of that time (on 50 and 100mg), I was fine. However, when I went from 100 to 75mg (due to symptoms of hypomania), I became suicidal on and off for about two weeks. However, this problem seems to have stopped now that I'm back on 50mg. These thoughts were unusual for me, although there is some chance that the suicide of a close friend could have led my own depression to become more severe. I would say give it a shot. Most people do not have suicidal thoughts while on it. And if you do, tell your doctor immediately and they can fix it very quickly. As long as you are not already suicidal and impulsive, I would give it a chance. If there is an unusual danger for you, your doctor will probably see it. They are normally pretty smart that way, after all, it is their job.

Will Zoloft show up on an employee drug test?

If you have a prescription for Zoloft, and your job doesn't require you not to be on certain medications or have certain health conditions, there shouldn't be a problem. Be upfront and honest with the legitimate medications you are legitimately taking, going in.

Is suddenly stopping Zoloft dangerous?

Yes, it can lead to flu-like symptoms. Ask your PCP to assist you with a slow taper.

What side effects can happen when stopping zoloft and starting Wellbutrin?

Withdrawal Symptoms

The question needs some clarification. Each of these are drugs to treat depression. Each can be taken separately. Frequently wellbutrin is added to regimens of Zoloft to try to provide energy or correct sexual problems.

Wellbutrin has a series of potential withdrawal symptoms. It is best to try to taper from a high dose down to a low dose... 300mg, to 150mg, to 100mg to 75mg. Others report that they can stop wellbutrin immediately with no withdrawal. Best to work with your doctor.

Zoloft has a very well documented withdrawal syndrome, with electrical or zappy feelings as one of the events. The original poster of this answer below did not indicate which medication they were withdrawing from or which dosages. The important information is that they recommend a taper down. Zoloft can be tapered very slowly into very small doses. Wellbutrin can be taken in small doses ( a 75 mg can be cut in two). The higher formulations of Wellbutrin can not be cut. Before cutting a pill of anysort both your doctor and a pharmacist should be consulted.

I had major withdrawel symptoms - nausea, vomiting and shakes for 10 days. I HIGHLY recommend "stepping" off these drugs and not stopping cold turkey.

Been on it for 4 months, I went from 450 mg to nothing (hair loss issue) it's been 7 days now, no withdrawal(s) whatsoever it's business as usual, go figure.

Is it all right to take a multivitamin and zoloft at the same time?

I was wondering if I could take my multivitamin and zoloft at the same time. I'm worried about the obsorption of each if taken together.

Is sertraline the same as Zoloft?

Zoloft is the product trade name of sertraline chemical compound.

Doctors in the US prescribe chemical compounds, so your prescription will read "sertraline".

To the contrary, doctors in the EU prescribe products, so your prescription will read "zoloft".

If you have no prescription and you ask your pharmacist just "sertraline" they may give you Zoloft (original drug, from the maker who initially hold the patent) or other other product that contain the same drug (called 'generics').

If you can afford the Zoloft (maker: Phizer) prefer it from generics. Although it is always the same drug, other inactive compounds of the drug may not be the same, so distribution in the body may not be exactly the same, affecting efficacy or clearout time.

Stop Zoloft start lexapro how many days?

First, you can't just stop taking Zoloft--if you've taken it for more than a month or so, you'll have to slowly decrease your dose until it is 10mg or so and then stop (this should take several weeks.) Then you're ready to start Lexapro (no cool off period in between is necessary.) Note: I am not a physician but I know that if your doctor recommended changing from Zoloft to Lexapro s/he would have already gone over this--be careful--Zoloft has a profound effect on your brain chemistry, make sure your doctor is in agreement on this. Note: I've taken Zoloft (Sertraline) and Wellbutrin in different strengths for over 6 years, these are serious drugs.
