Is it possible to have bleeding and not have a miscarriage?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

There is a condition called placenta privea that is basically where the placenta is trying to pull away from the uterus. It may cause bleeding which happened to me at 5 months but it can be monitered and usually an ultrasound will be performed later in the pregnancy to determine if the placenta is blocking the cervix complicating vaginal delivery. If left untreated it can cause death.Any bleeding needs to be checked out by your doctor.

Why is there bleeding after urinating?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

You could have a kidney or bladder infection. The only way to get rid of it is to see a doctor. Another possibility is a kidney or bladder stone. The stone forms in the kidney and causes bleeding as it travels down the ureter to the bladder. Once the stone is in the bladder it may not cause bleeding again until it begins to travel down the urethra when one urinates. Both infections and stones can be painful. Infections can be very dangerous if the kidney becomes involved. Similarly a stone trapped in the kidney could disastrously affect the production of urine. Medical attention is important if there is blood in the urine.

How do you know when you have a miscarriage?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

You don't. It is thought that a quarter of pregnancies miscarry, which means that many women miscarry before they even know they are pregnant probably because the fertilised egg has something wrong with it. Practically every woman I know has had a miscarriage and if you ask around it is actually very common. The majoruty then go on to have a healthy baby.

How long should one wait before trying to get preg after a miscarriage?

User Avatar

Asked by Kimmurjean

It will depend on your own feelings and situations, you will know within yourselt when you feel the time is right. Go by your own instincts, don't feel pressured and listen to your own body signs, be true to yourself, don't rush, it takes time and patience to get back to 'normal'. Look after yourselt first and formost. Psychologically the above answer is absolutely correct. Physically you can get pregnant after two weeks, before your next period. Probably better to wait until after your next period so you have an accurate datefor calculating your due date. Surprisingly, many women have a baby very near the first anniversary of the miscarriage, so they are pregnant within 3 months.

What does it mean when there is a yolk sac but no fetus?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

A yolk sac is a precursor to a baby, usually yolk sacs are seen at 5 1/2 weeks. A fetal heart is detectable in the 6th week - that is what is a better indicator of having a baby, eventhough it is called an embryo at this point.

Can you see the baby in an ultrasound at 9 weeks?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

You probably won't feel your baby kick until around week 16 and 22, even though the baby has been moving since week 7 or 8. You may have already witnessed these movements during an ultrasound. This is often felt as a fluttering feeling or a grasshopper walking across your belly during the first movements.

If you are 8 weeks pregnant and don't detect a heartbeat at an ultrsound could the baby still be alive?

Asked by Wiki User

It's possible, though not likely. 85% of women can see the heartbeat flicker on the u/s at 5-6 weeks, although some women with a higher body mass index cannot. Do not give up hope until your HcG levels have been measured by the doc. Good luck.

Why a 7 month old fetus has more chance to survive after premature delivery than an 8 months old fetus?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

well since i been doing research on fetuses, my girlfriend is pregnant i believe that a 7 month old fetus can survive preterm birth because of development, so does the 8 month old fetus, but i believe the 8 month old fetus can't survive because it was almost born, i guess. Personally, I haven't heard of this, and can't find it in any of the medical textbooks I have.

An 8 month fetus has more chance of survival than a 7 month old fetus because it is more developed. The weeks just before full term birth, the baby is working on lung development. Neither than 7 month old nor the 8 month old has full lung capacity development... and actually the 7 month old hasn't even started much on this one.

It really depends on any other complications that arise. If the 8 month fetus has more complications, say because of genetics or trauma besides the pre-term delivery, it would have a lesser chance of survival compared to a 7 month fetus that has little or no complications, either genetics or trauma. Both fetus are at risk for pre-mature illnesses and the normal complications that stem from being delivered early.

In either case, medical technology has advanced quite far in these times. Both fetus have a chance for survival with various treatments, medications, machines, and procedures, depending on the needs of the preemie and the stage of development, as well as post-partum circumstances that arise. It is still true, however, that the further along you can carry the baby, the better chance of survival it has because it has been able to be more developed. This is why, if you are too early, and you have true labor pains, the doctor will give you medication to stop the labor and thus give the baby more time to develop in utero.

What does it mean if you are eight weeks pregnant and the fetus measured at five weeks six days and had no heartbeat but the sac was present?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

No, honey. Your baby is way to teeny for that! You can't even remotley hear a baby's heartbeat with a good Doppler before 9 or 10 weeks! So don't worry! Besides if the Dr. thought anything was wrong he would have told you! Look at it this way.... if you were 5 weeks along at your last Dr. appt. than your next appointment should be scheduled 4 weeks later which will make you 9 weeks. The doctor might not try to get the baby's heartbeat but ASK HIM TO anyhow! The doctor didn't try mine and he said 9 weeks could be too early to hear it but he tried and got it with not to much difficulty. So tell them a friend heard her baby at 9wks and 5 days and you would like him to try! OK? Good luck on your pregnancy!Pam

Why fetus die at 8 weeks?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Fetal demise can occur and at any gestational age, and even after an autopsy is preformed some parents never get the answer they desperately need. Sometimes it's related to umbilical cord accidents, other times it may be genetics. However the majority of fetal demise or stillbirths are never fully understood. Please support research for stillbirth and sudden infant death.

The short answer is NO, it will not cause a miscarriage. This is an urban legend and a poor one at that. For a more detailed explanation from Planned Parenthood, see:

Think about it this way, pickles contain vinegar and pregnant women love pickles (or so the stereotype goes) If vinegar caused miscarriages, would pregnant women continue to eat pickles (would we have the stereotype)?
