What is treatment of rheumatoid arthritis when patient is with high ESR and uric acid?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The treatment of RA is done with anti-inflammatory or disease modifying drugs when RA is active esr as a result of the inflammation goes up Ra is a Autoimmune disease. High uric acid on the other hand is a disease that is the result of too much uric acid which is the result of the body's metabolising purines which come from the nucleus of living cells. I would say that if a patient is suffering from gout and RA at the same time the treatment would involve a low purine diet, disease modifying drugs such as methotrexate and anti-inflammatory. the anti-inflammatory will help both the inflammation from the gout and from the RA. you should do this through a doctor as the blood needs to be tested for toxicity

Can neck arthritis cause by high level of uric acid?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

No Arthritis can be a symptom of a high level of uric acid as in the case of Gouty arthritis for example. In that case the arthritis is the result of a high concentration of uric acid in the blood leading to the Uric acid crystallising into fine sharp shards which in turn settle in certain joints and other areas of the body. the kidneys are supposed to clean uric acid from the system. Uric acid is metabolised from purines which are a part of the nucleus of the living cells we eat and those that we turn over in our own body's as cells die and are replaced. Different foods for example produce more or less uric acid.

That depends on how long it has been active. but Yes you can have RA before it is able to be effectively diagnosed. What is RA factor?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Rheumatoid factor (RF or RhF) antibody directed against an organism's own tissues) most relevant in rheumatoid-arthritis. It is an antibody against the Fc portion of immunoglobulin-g-1, which is itself an antibody. RF and IgG join to form immune-complex-1 which contribute to the disease process. About 80% of people with rheumatoid arthritis have detectable rheumatoid factor. Those who do not are said to be "seronegative".

Rheumatoid factor can also be a cryoglobulinemia-1 (antibody that precipitates on cooling of a blood sample); it can be either type 2 (monoclonal IgM to polyclonal IgG) or 3 (polyclonal IgM to polyclonal IgG)

RF is often evaluated in patients suspected of having any form of arthritis even though positive results can be due to other causes, and negative results do not rule out disease. But, in combination with signs and symptom, it can play a role in both diagnosis and disease prognosis. It is part of the usual disease criteria of rheumatoid arthritis.

The presence of rheumatoid factor in serum can also indicate the occurrence of suspected autoimmune activity unrelated to rheumatoid arthritis, such as that associated with tissue or organ rejection. In such instances, RF may serve as one of serology markers for autoimmunity. (source wikipedia)
