Which way do animal's knees bend?

Most mammals (e.g. horses and dogs) have knees that bend the way human knees do. However, when you look at a mammal's leg, the knee is not in the same place you're used to finding it. Many four-legged animals actually walk on their toes, and have elongated feet and ankle bones. Take a look at a dog or horse skeleton on the internet, and you can see that what seems to be a "backward bending knee" is actually the animal's ankle!

Does Belladonna give relief for Rheumatoid Arthritis?

Herbal remedies promoted for the treatment of arthritis include, ginger, Chinese Thunder God Vine, willow bark extract, feverfew, cat's claw and stinging nettle. While there is some evidence that ginger and willow bark extract may relieve pain, these remedies contain chemicals that are similar to conventional nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory compounds (NSAIDs) like naproxen (Aleve) and ibuprofen (Advil). NSAIDs may cause inflammation of the stomach and intestines. Further, they can interfere with blood clotting and lead to fluid retention, causing problems for people with high blood pressure or heart failure. Chinese Thunder God Vine also relieves pain and inflammation, but chronic use may cause weakening of the immune system and bones (osteoporosis). The causes for RA which is an Autoimmune disease, are at present not known and this makes it impossible to predict who might suffer from it before they present with positive symptoms However there does seem to be a genetic link and women are more likely to get it then men. aside from that it all seems to be in the luck of the draw at the moment.

Does hitting a board cause arthritis as in training for martial arts?

No, as long as you do it right. That means you have been shown by and experienced martial artist, specifically a master, on how to properly hold your hand, fist and arm while striking the makiwara. It is not something that you can really teach yourself. I have been shown the proper techniques by a number of 5th Dan and above instructors, including an Okinawan Full Contact champion. I have been hitting one for over 8 years and the arthritis that was beginning to affect my wrists before I started has actually gone away. how would you go about finding someone who could teach you? and could you give me tips on this? Even though maybe your not a 5th Dan, you could probably offer advise please?

You are a rheumatoid Arthritis patient Daily dose of 2 mg methylprednisolone gives much relief you discontinue when comfortable any harm?

Rheumatoid arthritis is an ongoing disease and the key to treatment is control in other words. you are taking something that controls the inflammation that is damaging your joints and causing you pain. When the pain stops it is tempting to stop taking the medication, however the moment you do you are putting yourself in a position where inflammation can once again start and cause damage to joints and will keep on doing so until some time after you recommence your medication. I suggest you talk this over with your doctor as it may not be a good idea.

Can Ibuprofen cause damage to the liver when you are taking it for arthritis?

I am not a doctor and am not sure about the liver or kidney, but I personally know that if you habitually take ibuprofen for any reason, you must take it with meals. I suffered severe esophageal, stomach, and small intestine ulcers from taking "ib's" on an empty stomach. Please be careful. It would be a good idea to get regular blood work at your doctor for liver screening.

it can cause ulcers or GI bleeding, but liver function is not normally something that is impacted by ibuprofen.

The ACS cautions ibuprofen users that fever, nausea, tenderness under the right ribcage and yellowing of the skin and eyes can indicate liver damage. Stop taking ibuprofen and contact your doctor if you notice any of these problems.

Taking ibuprofen may increase your risk for a heart attack, stroke or stomach and intestinal bleeding. Your risk for these problems might increase if you take other NSAIDs, (Non steroidal anti inflamatorys) have allergies, asthma, high blood pressure, heart disease or nasal polyps. Speak with your health care provider if you have kidney disease or are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or are breast-feeding.

Stop using ibuprofen and seek medical attention if you have heart attack or stroke symptoms such as chest pains, slurred speech, trouble breathing or weakness on one side of your body.

If you have bloody stools or vomit mixed with material that looks like coffee grounds, severe heartburn or stomach pain and you are taking ibuprofen, you might be experiencing gastrointestinal bleeding.

Stop using ibuprofen shortly before and immediately following a heart bypass.
