Grey-headed flying foxes and other species of flying foxes are being threatened by electrocution on powerlines, being shot, barb wire and netting entaglement and starvation due to a decrease in their own native foods which of course is due to human habitat clearing. Flying foxes are a vital species within our eco system. They are long range pollinator and seed dispersers. Many species of important trees rely on flying foxes for pollination. Also a number of native wildlife species rely on these trees as a source of food and survival. We all need to rally around these magnificent creatures to protect them and our diverse ecosystem. Flying fox extinction would have expansive consequences.

Bats are not birds as they have no feathers, talons, beaks, or any organ specifically related to birds. The bat's wings are also not the same style as bird's wings. Bats seem to have the same structure in their wings as the human hand. And, they do not lay eggs, they give live birth.

There are many kinds of Bats, and they eat different things. About 70% of all bats eat insects, such as moths, and some types of bats prey on small mammals, and reptiles. While about 20% of the bats eat all kinds of fruit. Also there are bats that make a small cut on sleeping livestock, and then drink the blood from the wound.
