What is the role of politics in our society?
Politics is the barometer of social and ethical changes in American society. As of June 2015,the Supreme Court legalized gay marriage nationwide and confirmed the Affordable Care Act (ObamaCare) for the second time, while the "Citizens United" decision now allows unlimited corporate and foreign cash donations to politicians. Prayer (or not) in schools remains a topic among the GOP. Politics brings all these to the forefront for national debate, as well as helping control and direct the money necessary to win elections and project power and authority.

What country has a direct democracy?
Answer 1
As far as I know and although it has been heavily argued, Switzerland is the only country practicing direct democracy at almost all levels of decision making and officials' election. Many countries in the world will use direct democracy but in most cases that is restricted to referendums, at the contrary of Switzerland where any citizen or group of citizens may challenge any law at any time, provided they can gather a certain number of signatures.
Answer 2
The country with (an almost perfect) direct democracy is Switzerland (5 million voters), the voters decide on national referendums and initiatives 2-4 times a year.
In the USA (the federal government is an example of an indirect democracy) the State of California (20 million voters) is an example of direct democracy another example are the town meetings in some of the New England States (e.g. Vermont) which are held about once a year to decide local issues.

Why is civic responsibility important to your democracy?
Let us imagine a country as a huge family, with its commander in chief (The father). Serving along with him are those who are given certain responsibilities (The mother and older children). All council with each other as to be best way to train their troops (The children) in their individual responsibilities. A well trained army, commanded by wise commanders and loyal troops can defend their allotted areas (The home) without being told what to do. They know that their training over a certain period of time will stand them in good stead to be able to follow orders without question. In doing so their areas of responsibility will be safe guarded against all who try to invade their country and subject the population to servitude. (Outside influences trying to break up the family). A well trained army (Family) can face any danger with the knowledge that they will be the victors. An army is made up of well trained squads (Individual families) who know that their safety and that of the army as a whole, depends upon their obeying orders.

No.
Direct democracy does not "scale" - that is, it requires the citizens themselves to directly vote on all issues before the government. As such, it cannot work efficiently for places with more than a few thousand citizens, at the very most.
The Philippines, like all other modern governments, uses elected representatives to avoid this problem. The Philippines itself is considered a representative democratic republic, specifically a "unitary presidential representative republic", in political science parlance.

What are the good points of democracy?
This is a very large question that asks a reader to evaluate a complex political system for its merits. I assume you mean "representative democracy", such as the American system of government.
Merits of Representative Democracy:
- The non-elected citizen, who has the greatest to gain and most to lose in a political situation, has the right to determine, by popular vote, their elected leaders. A fair and open election process will guarantee the consent of the voters to be governed.
- The vote gives a citizen power to voice their opinions on a candidate or proposition, thereby meaningfully participating in the society as a whole.
- Representatives provide a citizenry with a specific voice in their government, thereby securing their interests in the legislative process. The representative who doesn't represent their constituency's interests can be voted out of office by that constituency.
- The citizen may petition the government or engage in public protest if they disagree or wish to change a particular part of their government.
- A representative government guarantee certain specific rights of the population. They are legally obligated to perform these duties under punishment of impeachment, imprisonment, or possibly execution (in the case of treason).
- The three branches of government (executive, legislative, and judicial) are balanced so that one branch may not have supreme power over the others. For example, the executive branch may veto a passed bill, but the Congress and Senate may override the veto, making it law. The judicial branch may review the law and find it to be unlawful or unconstitutional, and may strike the passed law down.
