The device he suggested was called a netti (or nedi) pot, which is inserted into one nostril so that the liquid can run through the sinuses and out the other nostril to clean the sinuses. I have exactly the same as that. I got my retainer a few weeks ago and the top one is fine but the bottom one leaves this line and sometimes a cut or ulcer. It also hurts a lot when I put it in. I guess this is normal!
