Coming OUT openly as someone with same gender attraction doesn't mean you fit all the common ideas of what being 'Gay' is often classified as, but simply means that you have that attraction. It is natural and healthy to first be honest with oneself, and then prepare to adjust one's life accordingly. This could take time and carefulness, especially if there are children, houses, occupations, and family concerns involved. What changes can be brought to bring nuclear families into joint families?
Prior to WW11 most families were as you say joint families. The war brought about many changes in science and technology, most of all communication. We now have the ability to communicate with almost anyone in the world through our computer and mobile phone etc. Having the ability to do this we have been (tuned) away from the required frequency which was once the family. Where once the frequency was tuned to the Home service or short wave, we have reset our fequecy to Long Wave. So instead of listening to the local news we are more interested in listening to the international news service.
The obvious solution is to change our frequency again so that we can listen to programs such as Family Favourites and Children's Hour. I believe that some of you youngsters will understand what I am trying to say, certainly you older folk will. I have heard my daughter tell of a friend who, before going into the shower, wrapped her mobile up in plastic so that she could talk to her friend eight thousand miles away. A family is a group of people who are related to each other, either by birth or adoption or marriage. A family cares for each other in a way that casual friends can never do. We have a deep emotional bond to others in our family...we share a soul.
Frequently we are irritated or upset with the members of our family. We care deeply about family because we are bonded together by shared experiences and interests. People outside our family may be very close, but they can never be the same as our family because they are not part of the unit.
Families support each other and sustain each other throughout crises and turmoil. They may be abrasive, frustrating, and irritating, but they are always there. Even if you don't like some of your family, they are still there when you need them. While it might seem that they exist to jump on your last nerve, they will show amazing strength when you need it most and share freely in your triumphs and pain.
Love is the glue that keeps family together. Even if there is divorce in the family, there will always be that glue of love that makes the family work, even if it is divided. When a member of the family does something crazy, the rest of the family will work to keep the family together. The family will wait until the member wakes up to what the family is, sometimes for many years.

Without any context from the relationship (ie, what his voice tone was when he said it, what else has happened prior to this statement being made), I would take him at his word - he wants to be a good husband to you and a good father to his and your future children but doesn't feel he has enough money to be able to do so.

- He really wants to get married and have a familiy and he wants to do that with you but he needs to make more money in order to take care of a family.

Why has divorce rifed the contemporary society?
here are a few hypotheses I've played around with in my head.
- The media/society has made it socially acceptable, so if you don't like the way the marriage is going then you can get out. Think of all the abusive marriages 50 years ago and the destruction of the reputation should the couple split up. Conventions were different and you only married once, now you can marry several times and it'll be "okay".
- America is generally Protestant and in most Protestant churches divorce is okay, people have taken advantage of that perk to say the least.
- I'd blame the people getting married for being less mature about the relationship but of course every divorce is different and abuse is a pretty good reason to leave a guy. The thing is, if it's a minor dispute that's gotten to be a huge problem, it should be resolved.

- If your ankle is swollen slightly then you should not have to convince your father that you have sprained your ankle. Put hot and cold cloths on it to bring the swelling down and a tensor bandage (not too tight) that you can buy at the drug store.
