Betsy Ross, the creator of the colonial flag, was a quaker. Quakers often sat in circles during their religious meetings because they believed that no one person was superior than another in the eyes of God, and God was the center. The did not believe in having a priest, or a pastor/minister teach Scriptures but simply "Friends" discussing religion. Each star represents one of the 13 colonies, her intentions were to symbolize unity and that no one colony was superior to another. Also, she wanted God to be the center of the 13 colonies.

The Argentina flag represents the Sun of May. The colors represent the clear Argentinian skies and the snow on top of the Andes mountains. The flag was adopted in 1812 and the colors were chosen by Manuel Belgrano.

As defined by the state of Texas (to be the same as on the Texas state flag), and by the US embassy in London in 1988, the colors are 193 Red and 281 Blue.

The Flag of Afghanistan was adopted by the transitional government of Transitional Islamic State of Afghanistan in 2002-2004. This flag is similar to the one flown in Afghanistan during the monarchy between 1930 and 1973. The difference is the addition of the shahadah at the top of the coat-of-arms (seen in gold/yellow) in the center. The new flag was adopted January 4, 2004. This flag consists of three stripes of the colors black, red, and green. The black, red, and green represent the past, blood shed for independence, and the Islamic faith. This has been present on most flags of Afghanistan in the last twenty years. The center emblem is the classical emblem of Afghanistan with a mosque with its mihrab facing Mecca.
