it is not necessarily just new york that has many homeless people. there are homeless people everywhere. in new york, there are quite a lot probably because it is an urban area where there are so many people. with many people out on the streets, they could provide some spares. also in big cities like new york, there are many crimes. they could be victims of drug dealers or prostitutors. or some could be on the streets because they cannot afford to obtain a place to live in. it is important to know that these are people and we need to treat them as human beings. they all have reasons why they are homeless.

There are many homeless kids in London. There are no statistics kept as to the number of homeless kids in London, but according to records kept by Shelter and the Social Exclusion Unit there are certainly thousands of under 18s in the UK who experience either 'absolutely homeless' (i.e. living on the streets) or have no fixed address (i.e. sofa surfing, staying in B&Bs, sheltered accommodation) within a year. The number of kids living on the streets is much lower but there are still many kids living on the streets.
