I will use my own personal experience. I have done everything I wife can do and more but when the marriage is finally over, everything we do are more different than normal. My ex hardly talk to me, even when we started our life together. His always busy and don't make time anymore especially to me, even though he promised me that after the navy, it will be my turn. "I need space" is just a euphemism for "I want to fool around with other people. It would be best if YOU decide to move on, don't wait for your spouse to announce that he/she wants to come back then gives you some kind of disease. Once the "I need space" line has been crossed, a marriage seldom works out... unless you're both going to a marriage counselor TOGETHER!

Trying to loose 200 pounds takes alot of effort, being yourself and loving someone doesnt take much at all. Sounds like your relationship is onesided, that its his way or no way. This is up to you, 6 years is a long time to throw away but its also 6 years of wasted time because he wasnt thinking of the futures long haul. Its up to you if you want to remain in this relationship, he will keep going with the status quo and that's good for him but is that what you want? You have the right to be happy and have the things you want and need out of a relationship and a "man". Sit down and let him know that a stronger committment needs to be made on his part or you will consider moving on. See if he will start slow and become engaged and then within a years time marry. Lucky for folks all over the world..... unless there is proof God sometimes is the only one that can verify a marriage. And my God sees everything, including ALL events that led up to the "presumed" ceremony ,abuse, and fear that the "Bride/Prisoner" to be felt. God knows that she spent hours croutched down in a small bathroom on a cold floor, pregant 2 days before the "presumed" ceremony. God knows the fear her son felt as he watched his strong, happy, mother deteriorate into a weak, fearful, sad, mommy that no longer played with him the way I used to. By the grace of God, I pray that he continues to see all, and will show "all" people in this scenario the light ,,,,, the true light.
