There are some people that love "the chase" (trying to win the other person over) and once they do, it appears the excitement goes right out of the relationship for these people. here is what you do. you become good friends with him. try to hang out with him alot but dont over do it . it will get annoying if u keep on showing up. whenever he is upset about something, you ask him what is wrong and you listen to him. everytime you see him you give him a hug and make sure you smell good. try to make him laugh most of the time and act like your self. than once you know him very well and you still want to go out with him, you ask him out. but before u ask hime out make him laugh. if you are not good at jokes, than you smile and look him in the eyes. if you feel nervous and you are turning red than dont look him in the eye. just look back and look as cute as you can

Well... they aren't inseparable. There are times when you would only listen and not speak, and there are times, albeit few, where you might speak and not listen... and it would be absolutely appropriate to separate the two during those times.

A President, giving a speech, focuses all of his attention on the speech... at that time, he will not be listening to anything else, but focusing completely on his speech... one way communication, from him to his audience.

A student in a large freshman class listens to a lecture... takes notes, tries to gather all the information possible. May not be able or permitted to ask questions until later, during lab. (Those lecture sessions have hundreds of people and it just isn't feasible.) Gathering that information and just listening is the appropriate thing to do in that situation.

However, most of the time in interpersonal communication, listening is coupled with speaking. Understanding another person and being understood in return is valuable... and one-way communication doesn't work.

If you mean being not being open with yourself, then I believe that would cause denial. The effects that I have experienced with self disclosure on my personal relationships are that when a personal question comes up in a conversation, I have no idea how to answer it. A person should be open with themselves at all times. Tell me how this helped. ;)

I am a girl and the best thing I have always likes in guys is when he is just himself and not trying to hard, you can pretty much get along with anybody no matter what I have very many guy friends of different groups just because I know they are being themselves.
