There isn't an Age of Empires 4; however the nations for Age of Empires 3 are British, French, Dutch, German, Portuguese, Spanish, and Ottoman. Also, here are some basic distinctive abilities for each civilization:

British: every house built also grants an extra free settler
French: a different type of settler called a courier that costs more but is stronger and gathers resources faster than a regular settler
Dutch: settlers cost coin; can build a special structure called a Bank that generates the equivalent of four settlers gathering coin without requiring settlers
German: gets free Uhlans with every home city shipment and can train settler wagons, which are more expensive than regular settlers (can train those, too), but gather resources faster
Portuguese: can build town centers in age 2; (I don't know much more than that)
Spanish: home city shipments become available faster
Ottoman: settlers are trained for free automatically; must use mosque upgrades to increase settler limit

Now this is all a matter of opinion, and it also matters on which army you are the best with.

I myself am quite skilled as the Teutons and the Byzantines so I have a defensive civilization and an offensive civilization, so just let me post my strategy for the army I use as an example, the Britons (British)

They are a fairly easy army to master and are quite strong. Their use of longbow men and archers in general is second-to-none giving them a highly superior advantage over many civilizations who have to just blindly charge in at close range and try and get lucky they caught you off guard. For a basic strategy with the Britons just balance archers and swordsmen first, defend for a good period of time, then break out and destroy them.

That's an offensive strategy, so if you are an offensive civilization, your best unit would probably be a conquistador from the Spanish.

Pros:

Long-range attack

Decent armour

Use of horse enables escape

Cons:

Not very accurate at very long range

Exact speed as heavy cavalry

Just a heads up, in order to shift the Briton strategy to Spanish replace Longbows with Hand Cannoneers (keep Conquistadors minimal) and keep building Champions & Halberds

Defensive civilizations just camp out and defend, that's it.

Best unit for them is probably a good monk/teutonic knight combo for the Teutons

Pros:

Teutonic knights can stall while monks heal

Monks can convert members of attack forces to make a pincer.

These are the best units for me, but for a rock solid answer it all depends on you.

Left click is select, right click is deselect and move your mouse to the edge of the screen to move around. There are hotkeys as well for quick selecting thins, but you can always use the mouse.

Keep in mind, NOT all civilizations can make bombard towers, such as the Mongols, Aztecs, Huns, Goths and Mayans.

The Asian Dynasties is an expansion pack for Age of Empires 3. This means that if you do not own the base game (Age of Empires 3) and have it installed, you cannot play Asian Dynasties. However, if you already have Age of Empires 3 installed, you can play The Asian Dynasties without the base game disk. So as long as you already installed the Age of Empires 3 base game, you will be able to play The Asian Dynasties, as well as access all features/civilizations/features present in the base game from within The Asian Dynasties. If you are asking how to advance to the Imperial age after revolting, it can't be done. In the same way it is not possible to revolt after advancing to the Imperial Age.
