Be honest with everyone. Even if you don't think you have a problem or have anorexia, you may actually have it and not realize it. Or you may have some signs that could lead to the development of another more serious problem or eating disorder like anorexia. Find people who you can trust and who support you. Those are the ones who you want to be friends with. Try therapy sessions, in case you feel yourself depressed. Support groups are great for making new and more supportive friends, too. Let the doctors do what they do best and let them make an expert medical diagnosis.
Do young girls with anorexia shrink or become shorter?
That is an interesting question, and I'm not sure of the answer. I would think that the anorexia would have to be severe and prolonged for that to happen (getting shorter) if it happens at all. Well before then, it must become obvious that the young girl needs help. There can be some severe developmental problems. If a girl is post-menarch and the anorexia causes an irregularity or a stop of periods, this would be an alarming and urgent symptom requiring immediate attention.
Anorexia is the decreased sensation of appetite. While the term in non-scientific publications is often used interchangeably with anorexia nervosa, many possible causes exist for a decreased appetite, some of which may be harmless, while others indicate a serious clinical condition, or pose a significant risk.
Anorexia, or more specifically Anorexia Nervosa, is classified as an Eating Disorder. Although this is commonly associated with pubescent females, it can also affect males.
Generally, this condition typically presents as weightloss, with the sufferer avoiding food or eating very small amounts, in an effort to consume as little as possible.
As this condition advances, the sufferer is incapable of perceiving their true body shape, imagining they are fatter than they really are. Even though others can plainly see their emaciated body shape, the sufferer will be unwilling to take this perception onboard.
There are a number of websites offering information and support to both sufferers, their relatives and friends.
In short, Anorexia is when you consider yourself fatter than you really are, so you make yourself vomit.
When starving yourself does it eat your muscle away and help get rid of it?
When dieting, not just when starving yourself, your muscles damage themselves while being used. The damage isn't as severe as tearing a muscle, but the tissue does need time to recover. If there's enough protein in the body, resting will allow the body to use the protein to repair the muscle tissue. If there isn't enough protein, the body may try to get it elsewhere, but in general it cannot convert other stored mass, such as fat, into protein. Thus you start to lose muscle tissue. This is '''not''' a healthy way to reduce muscle tissue.
Was she britney murphey sick of anorexia that caused her to go into cardiac arrest?
It was rumored, but has not been totally confirmed. An eating disroder like anorexia can often result in heart complications. With a mixture of medications that Murphy was legally and rightfully taking, it may have all added up to a deadly combo.
Anorexia can be prevented a few ways. Some are...
*Keeping a high self-esteem and self body image
*Not teasing or making fun of others about image, weight, bodies, ect.
*Ignoring those who say negative things about you
*Live a healthy lifestyle, eat right, exercise well
*Get someone help if you think they are developing an eating disorder. It is always best to stop it before it can get any worse.
Why have eating disorders become prevalent?
Eating disorders have become so prevalent over the years because of how the ideals of society have changed and evolved. Many "role models" today are celebrities, who try to stay fit and thin. Also, models and magazines portray thinner people as being pretty. These ideals of "thin is good" cause many people, especially young women, to strive to be thinner. Often this leads to extreme dieting and eating disorders. Teasing and bullying, which is very common, can also lead to low self-esteem and depression, which are known causes of many eating disorders, too.

More likely than not, yes. Your body needs water far more than it needs food, though it still needs both to survive and be healthy. Drinking in the sense of alcohol - probably not because most forms of alcohol are high in calories. Most anorexics will stick with water. Some might have diet sodas and such, others might have a flavored or carbonated water. Almost all will drink something that is low-cal with little to no sugars in it, though.

Bulimics differ from anorexia in that bulimics binge and purge?
No
Some anorexics do binge and purge, but only tiny amounts and more consistently than bulimics.
There are two main differences between anorexics and bulimics -
Anorexics lose a significant amount of weight, and usually have an extremely low and unhealthy BMI. This disorder is characterised by excessive weight loss and a fear of putting on weight and getting fat. They are proud of their diets and how controlled they are regarding food.
Bulimics on the other hand are not necessarily skinny; some are quite overweight, and others are in the normal weight range. They are ashamed by their purging activities and feel like their eating is uncontrollable.
Both are equally dangerous disorders causing serious medical and psychological problems, and need to be treated by a physician or psychologist or psychiatrist
