Which state has the most atheists?
I think it's Vermont or Maine. The Northeast and Northwest coasts have the least religious affiliations.
What do you call someone who needs proof to believe something?
Rational, realistic and well-grounded.
What do atheist say when someone sneezes?
If you mean "Do you say 'God Bless!' when a atheist sneezes?" the answer is "Who cares." It would be more appropriate to offer a Kleenex or ask if he has a cold or allergy. But saying something that gives the impression that you think diseases are caused by angry deities or that he might have coughed out his soul are traditional.
I Say God Bless you if god were to exist
+++
Nowadays it's usually just "Bless you!" irrespective of any religious belief.
There's not a whole lot of perfect loose in the world. Life. as it has evolved, is a series of kludges that let the present representatives of species stay alive (See Link), the habitable environments on the earth are always in a state of flux which allows some species to prosper while others go extinct, bacteria and viruses are forever evolving to overcome defenses that living creatures develop.
Many creationists point to the ideal set up of the Earth around the sun (even a few meters one way or the other would make it inhabitable) except that the earth's orbit is elliptical with several million kilometers of variance. They point to the ideal temperatures of the planet - whereas live actually lives in temperatures ranging from near boiling to 50oC below freezing. Even the amount of air available to Tibets and dwellers in the Andes would doom an average sea level dweller to an unpleasant death.
Even human beings live with a host of parasites and diseases that would scare most North Americans from ever travelling - worm that crawl through your blood, flukes that live in your bladder and liver, amoeba that eat your brains, flies that plant maggots to grow in your sinuses.
Answer: In your life, if you find everything to be perfect, a reason can be because you don't sit and dwell on so called mistakes or flaws and feel everything is as it should be, therefore, making it perfect.
What is Lee Strobel's views on evolution?
"It depends on how you define evolution. If you define evolution as merely meaning change over time, then I don't see any problem with a person being a Christian and believing in evolution. But that's not how textbooks define evolution. They define evolution as being random and undirected without plan or purpose. So how can God direct an undirected process? How can there be a divine purpose behind a purposeless and random world? That didn't make sense to me as I began to investigate this stuff. The kind of evolutionary theory being taught to students precludes the idea that there is a God or intelligent designer behind it because of the logical problem of saying that God could have directed a process that's undirected, or that he had a divine purpose behind a purposeless and random world."
-Lee Strobel in an interview with Beliefnet senior editor Deborah Caldwell
If you do not believe in a god you will not "drop to your knees and pray regardless." This is similar to the old saw that "There are no atheists in foxholes"
Atheists do not pray. Ever. If they prayed, they would not be Atheist. One who does not believe would have no one to pray to. It is a logical fallacy.
King James had very little to do with the scriptures except for the fact that he gave instructions to the translators.
Other translations have been made from Greek and Latin translations and if the KJV is compared to them you will see there is not a lot of difference.
As for Satan, he is not all powerful but God is .All scripture is inspired by God and written by men as they were directed by the Holy Spirit. God would not allow Satan to corrupt His word completely one should not read but study to find translation or concept errors that most over look to know the truth.
When you die the soul goes to heaven. What happens to the heel?
if you were a nice and good person, than your soul goes to the heaven. But if you were a bad and mean person it goes to the hell. And its burns at the hell.
Why did the USSR adopt atheism as an official state policy?
To eliminate one potential source of conflict and opposition.
because the communists refused to let the church exercise any power over its civilians and workers.
Christianity also conflicted with communist ideology.
Communists ideology was about science/progress and rationality, working hard and trying to improve and become a stronger version of oneself while Christianity opposed all those things.
Are the members of tool atheist?
They seem to me quite wise therefore they should be atheists. The believe in god should be only for the stupid people.
If Romans would crucify Christ would they lie in the Bible?
Romans did not write the Bible and therefore had no say in what was said about them or what they were reported as having said. The Romans had no opportunity to lie in the Bible, but the Christian authors did have that opportunity. So, the question should perhaps be whether the early Christians lied in the Bible, and arguably they did do so.
The books in the Bible were written by a series of authors separated by many decades, even centuries, to explain natural phenomena in a way their cultures could understand; such stories are commonly called myths. The fact that they attribute such things to a supernatural entity does not make them correct at all.
The formation of the world is easily explainable using the principles of electromagnetism and gravity, without resort to such an aforementioned entity. The existence of something does not imply a creator.
No evidence currently exists to support the existence of Adam, Eve, Eden, the Fall or most any other Biblical story (at least not in the way laid out within the Bible itself - it is either completely wrong or only coincidentally correct).
The Big Bang and evolution are two of the most supported, validated and well-evidenced theories currently used in science. This is entirely irrelevant: neither of them includes or excludes the existence of a deity of any kind.
Answer:
Lets agree for the sake of argument that God does exist to create the universe and all life, and evolution has got it utterly wrong. Now how do you explain the Muslim version of creation, or Hindu creationism with the giant turtle, or Chinese Pangu creation, or Native North American Blackfoot creation with Napi dropping animals into the water?
What is the atheist view on human desire?
I don't know about my fellow atheists, but I sure have human desires. I am sure all people do. As for human desire, I am not sure what my lack of belief in supernatural non-sense has to do with it.
Is atheism the biggest religion?
Atheism is not a religion. Hence, no.
In terms of sheer numbers nonreligious persons make up about 1.1 billion coming in third after Christianity and Islam.
No. Being Christian isn't comparable to an ethnic background. Either you believe or you do not believe. It would be like being half pregnant.
Did Robert Browning remained an atheist his entire life?
No; he became an atheist, following the example of Shelley, but later changed his mind.
Yes. David Sedaris is brilliant, so he doesn't believe in imaginary friends.
Some are, some are not. Buddhism does not make any effort to preclude followers from following other traditions as well. It is not uncommon for a Buddhist to also be a Shintoist or Taoist as well. In this way Buddhism is more of a philosophy than it is a religion.
What is a follower who does not believe in a personal God?
Disbelief in a personal God does not necessarily make someone into a follower; who do you think such people are following? I suppose one might be a follower of Richard Dawkins. But lots of people have arrived at such conclusions on their own.
Answer
Spinoza and Einstein did not believe in a personal God. Spinoza was a Pantheist, and Einstein admired Spinoza's god as metaphor for the laws of nature. Deism was popular and widespread in the 17th century. The Pantheist's god as metaphor for natural law, and the Deist non-interventionist god, were both impersonal. So Pantheists and Deists, and a few others, are followers of impersonal gods.
Is there a list of rules to live by atheism?
In short, no. Most atheists are probably humanist and rationalist though, and try and choose the most reasonable course of action.
What are facts about discrimination?
There are several different types of discrimination. These include ...
RacialDiscrimination based on someone's country of origin, the colour of their skin or the culture they were brought up in. HomophobicDiscrimination based on one's sexual orientation, considering them lesser beings because they are gay (homophobia,) lesbian (lesbophobia,) bisexual (biphobia,) or pansexual (panphobia.) SexistDiscrimination based on one's gender. This is not seen as often in the 21st century, but is still prevalent in some cultures. It tends to mostly affect women when it happens, but is not limited to thus, and can include men. HobbiesOften, people are discriminated based on the activities they enjoy, for instance, online role-playing games which are stereotypically viewed as "nerdy" or "geeky". This is not limited to the internet, and can include practical hobbies such as playing with trains, or collecting stamps, these are sometimes frowned upon.An aside:
Discrimination is often thought to be entirely a negative activity however it has its positive aspects and applications. In the extreme case, we all tend to avoid (discriminate against) strangers walking through town with a running chainsaw and parts of dogs slung over their backs. In lesser cases we avoid individuals that may harm us, who we owe money to, and who othewise would reduce our quiet enjoyment of life. Similarly employers avoid hiring individulas that have a history of poor work habits or who are otherwise unsuited for the partiuclat job (for real reasons)
