The Battle of Waterloo, just south of Brussels, took place on June 18th, 1815.

Napoleon of France, with an army of 69,000 faced the English Duke of Wellington with one of 67,000.

The battle took place all day and was decided in favour of the Allies (British, Prussians, Dutch) when the Prussian army of 48,000 men arrived.

Napoleon lost 25,000 men killed or wounded and had 6,000 taken prisoner.

Wellington lost 15,000 men killed or wounded. The Prussians lost 7,000 men killed or wounded.

Napoleon surrended after the battle and the French monarchy was restored.

I did read somewhere that someon had a problem with playing this game on his ps3 after downloading the mod that allows ps2 games to be played on a ps3. He said that the ps3 had an error message. Someone told him to delete his mod saying that it worked for him. So yes. It SHOULD work. xD

After Jackson' death at Chancellorsville, Longstreet became Lee's top field commander. He was determined to impose his idea of moving the army to the right to interpose the rebels between Washington and the Union army, forcing them to attack fortified rebel lines.

Lee considered the plan, then decided against it. Longstreet was sullen and sulky after, and told Lee he thought Pickett's charge would fail, which it did.

Whether or not if Longstreet's plan would have wprked remains a debate to this day.

Confederacy lost General Thomas (Stonewall) Jackson at the battle of Chancellorsville.

Gettysburg ended "Not with a bang, but with a whimper." After Pickett's Charge failed, Lee braced for a counterattack. When it did not materialize, he retreated the following day, and Meade failed to conduct a vigorous pursuit.

There were many types of firearms used at Gettysburg, from the Brown Bess musket used by the civilian John Burns to the Spencer repeating rifles used by the troopers under George Armstrong Custer. However the most common rifle was the 1861 58 caliber rifle musket, a muzzle loaded percussion rifle shooting a 400 grain bullet at about 1300 feet per second. In the hands of veterans it was (and still is, I carry one today in the field) deadly to 400 yards. At a 100 yards it is devastating.

The Union named its battles after rivers and creeks. The South named hem after nearby cities and towns. That is why the North called the battle Bull Run, and the South called the same battle Manassas, for instance.

Antietam is the deadliest single day battle in the history of the United States. Gettysburg was deadlier but over the span of three days.

I believe that Gettysburg was one of the biggest turning points. It was the highwater mark of the Confederacy. The fall of Vicksburg was another major point. It split the Southern states in two, and limited the resupply of the southeastern states from the west.

The most scariest or bloodiest battle near to The Battle of Gettysburg is Pearl Harbor. But really no other battle can compared to this battle"The Most Gruesome Battle of Civil War."

Antietam had the highest one-day body count. Shiloh was gruesome, and Cold Harbor. Omaha Beach was a nightmare, and the Battle of the Bulge. So was Tarawa, Iwo Jima, Okinawa.

Battle of Gettysburg: This was as a major battle and it was the Civil War's turning point but it was bloody. General Robert Lee and his army marched to Gettysburg and ran into Union cavalry. Then he ran 25k men there and the Union has less than 20k. Then when General Meade arrivedm, he had 10,000 men with him. Lee thought his army was strong and could defeat the Union's soldiers but he lost and the Union won. During this battle there were many casualties - Lee lost 28,000 out of 75,000 and Meade lost 23,000 out of 88,000.

Battle of Vicksburg: This was also a major battle in the Civil War and it was also a Union victory. The Confederates were defending Vicksburg and they had their only stronghold there. They used the Mississippi River for food and supplies. General Ulysses Grant wanted to gain control of Vicksburg and the Mississippi River. General John Pemberton was running out of food and supplies for his army so he had to surrender. Because Grant gained control of the Mississippi River, the South split into two.

The Battle of Gettysburg led to the end of the American civil war and also was where president Abraham Lincoln gave the Gettysburg address.

Gen. Robert E. Lee was the commander of the Confederate Army in the East. He was a brilliant strategist and beloved my his soldiers. As to friends he probably had many, but for a commander true friends would be few.

The five most bloodiest battles in the US Civil War were the battles of:

*Gettysburg;

*Chancellorsville;

* Antietam;

* Chickamauga; and

* Cold Harbor.

There are differences of opinion on the so-called top five bloodiest battles. That's because the better term of Casualties is more telling. "Bloody" infers wounded, not just battle deaths. Based on using the preferred term, the selection of battles can vary.
