Can you convert a bike from hub gears to cassette gears?

Depends.

If possible, it takes quite a bit of doing. External gear hubs are usually wider than internal gear hubs, so you'll probably need to respace the frame.

No big deal if it's a steel frame, not advisable for aluminium frames. Not possible for carbon fiber frames.

Buying a new rear wheel is probably least expensive, but it'd be possible to rebuild your old wheel with a new hub.

Then you'd need a shifter, a derailer, possibly an adapter claw to mount the derailer, and some cabling.

You need to figure out how to run & secure the cabling as your bike won't have the required brackets.

Or you'll have to track down several wraparound cable stops.

Realistically, you can expect to spend more on the conversion than what a new used bike with the desired properties would have cost you.

Mongosse Fireball Vs Gt Chucker 3 0 can someone compare theres bikes and find the better one for me?

Chucker-Looks Great, Feels chunky. Incredible frame, Much better than your standard MTB. lower seat, very light, wider grip, but stock comes with poor rst forks that will simply fail under heavy pressure. frame takes heavy hits
Perfect for a beginner on the street, downhill or jumps.
Fireball-also look great- is quite weak, specifically crank, rear dropout& derailler are unreliable. i dont often see people riding these on the dirt, only rarely do i see them on the street.
the brakes stock or okay probably better than the chucker, but the rims do tend to bend easilly e.g gradually under heavy breaking or dodgey landings.
forks are same as chucker on 09 model of fireball not sure on others.
i owned both of the bikes, fireball first but got rid of due to too much hassel, still have the chucker, which is massively upgradable.
Overall My opinion is the chucker, and facts say chucker to.
hope this helped

How do you remove the gear shifter on a mongoose bicycle?

There's really not much point in that, unless you simultaneously replace the rear wheel with a single speed wheel and add some chain guides.

But if you insist: unhook shifter cable by the shifter and pull it out. Pull grip(s) off handlebar. Loosen Allen screw on underside of shifter clamp. Pull shifter off.

Are there different sizes of 700c in thickness?

By thickness I assume you mean different tire width. The answer is yes, becoming more popular are the wider 25mm, and 28mm. tires. It has been established that the wider tires have less rolling resistance. Also the wider the tire the less air pressure required to support the rider, resulting in a more comfortable ride. For example, with the 25 or 28 tires, a rider 170lb. or less could get by with 90lb. pressure in the front tire, and 100 lb. in the rear. He would need 110 to 120lb, in a 22mm. tire.

How are electric bikes dangerous?

In the scale of things, they aren't particularly dangerous.

But they do add a little bit of danger in the following ways:

  • There's a considerable amount of energy in the battery. It can be dangerous if somehow damaged
  • There's a charger too involved. It runs off mains voltage, which needs to be treated with respect
  • The bicycle itself is heavier than the average bike. Means more moving energy, more effort to control
  • The motor, even at a stock pedelec rating means that the average speed becomes higher. More speed always means more risk.
  • Ebikes are often bought by people with limited bicycling experience, who suddenly find themselves able to go far and fast. Not always a good combo when ability grows faster than experience.

Do track wheels fit on vintage road bikes?

The front is (probably) a direct fit.

The rear probably not.

Track rear Wheels are likely to use a narrower axle spacing than a multi-speed rear.

If it's a steel frame, it can be respaced - Cold set - to a narrower spacing, and the dropouts realigned.

There's a limit on how many times you can do this, so Think carefully if you'd ever want to turn it back into multi-speed again.
