According to Buddha, the cause of suffering in the world is desire and attachment.

But the place of worship for legalism is in human nature, no matter what religion it is embedded in. In and of itself, it is a form of self worship, or idolatry. That is not to say that adherence to law is evil; it can be part of a true religious experience, and it is the responsibility of citizens in all law abiding nations. But adherence to law simply for its own sake is purely an expression of human nature, especially when overly zealous practitioners of some religions attempt to enforce their law on others without any of the prerequisite faith, repentance or sincerity.

A Buddhist student is commonly referred to as a "disciple" or "follower" of Buddhism. In traditional Buddhist teachings, a student who has taken formal vows and is committed to following the Buddhist path is known as a "bhikkhu" (monk) or "bhikkhuni" (nun). These individuals undergo specific training and adhere to a code of conduct known as the Vinaya.

Well, there once was a prince who's name was Siddhartha Gautama who lived inside his palace for his whole life until his was either 30 or higher. He never saw a dead person, never saw someone suffer. One day, he decided to travel outside to see what it was like. He saw an old man with no home, and he saw men who died. He wanted to figure out why everything was like that. So he wandered around for seven years hoping to find out why everything was like that. He meditated under a fig tree for 49 days to help him understand.

Once he figured it out, her traveled across India for 45 years, and shared his knowledge. He figured out that in order to prevent those things he thought this is what you should do.

People began to follow the Prince, and they started to call him Buddha.

They worshiped him like a god, and then this is how Buddhism became a religion.

Buddha (aka the prince) Created a path called the eightfold path. This is what you had to do.

Then, once he found followers, and everything he did, and his law become a religion. So really, Buddhism started because the Prince wanted to find answers, and when he did, he wanted to prevent all the bad, so he stared the religion, Buddhism.

On Parinirvana Day, Buddhists typically eat simple vegetarian meals as a way to honor the Buddha's teachings on compassion and non-violence towards all living beings. This may include dishes such as rice, vegetables, fruits, and nuts. Right View is one of the two Wisdom portion of the Eightfold path; The other being Right Intention. Right View is also known as Right Understanding or Right Perspective. It is concerned with having the correct perspective of yourself and the universe. You need to see both as they are, not as the way you think they are (or the way they should be). So it is important when cultivating Right View that you clean out misunderstandings, and preconceived ideas a and look at everything with an open mind and in a critical manner.

So, an example of Right View would be to see that everything ends. Nothing lasts forever. We fool ourselves every day that "this day I will not die." but that is not always true and we cannot see all ends. Another would be to truly understand that we are all connected. Look at it this way. Just think of all the people it takes for you to have a loaf of bread. The cashier, the stockpersons, the truck driver who delivered it to the store, the loader at the plant that baked the bread, the bakers, the truck driver that brought the wheat to the bakery, the farmer, the person who sold the Farmer the seed and many more. To fool ourselves that our actions of body speech and mind do not have infinite ripples is a fallacy.

Basically it's a term used as a Guise for a "Happy Ending." They try to pass it off as something sacred or energy healing, but it's really just a massage where the therapist jerks the guy off.

The grandfather of the Buddha was King Suddhodana, who was the ruler of the Shakya clan in the kingdom of Kosala, now part of modern-day India and Nepal. King Suddhodana was the father of Queen Maha Maya, who was the mother of Siddhartha Gautama, the Buddha. King Suddhodana's father was King Suddhodana, who was the ruler of the Shakya clan and the first in the line of the kings of the Shakya dynasty.

Some Christians get quite upset when anyone has a Buddha statue in their home, many Christians have such decorations, so there is obviously some division of opinion.

The "against" side probably feels such statues fall under the category of idols "No other gods before me" and the "shall not bow down and worship them" admonitions. Since even Buddhists do not have Buddha as an object of worship and have no gods, there is no reason that Christians would do either of these things.

On the "for" side. A statue of a Buddha can be an aesthetic element in the home, it an be a good luck charm like a rabbit's foot taken to a bingo game, or it an be a reminder that some people have found quite mode of life that suggests following moral principles. None of these should be offensive to anyone.

It is hard to imagine why any of the for or against viewpoints would make it"wrong" to have a statue of the Buddha in a home.

On Magha Puja, Buddhists traditionally observe the day by practicing acts of generosity, meditation, and moral discipline. In terms of food, there are no specific dietary restrictions or requirements for Magha Puja. However, some Buddhists may choose to follow a vegetarian or vegan diet out of compassion for all living beings, in alignment with Buddhist teachings on non-harming and mindfulness. Ultimately, the focus of Magha Puja is on spiritual reflection and honoring the teachings of the Buddha rather than specific food customs.

Oh, what a lovely question. Prince Shotoku's support for Buddhism was so important because it helped spread peace and harmony in Japan during a time of political unrest. His promotion of Buddhist principles like compassion and respect for all living beings inspired many to embrace a more peaceful way of life. Just like painting a happy little tree can bring joy to a canvas, Prince Shotoku's support for Buddhism brought positivity and unity to the people of Japan.

Songkran is also a time for making merit and engaging in cultural activities.

In Buddhism, nirvana is not envisioned as the blowing out of a candle. Nirvana is the state of ultimate liberation and enlightenment, where one is free from suffering and the cycle of rebirth. It is a state of perfect peace, happiness, and wisdom. The blowing out of a candle may be used as a metaphor to illustrate the extinguishing of desires and ignorance that lead to suffering, but it is not an accurate representation of the concept of nirvana in Buddhism.

Ah, isn't that interesting? When Siddhartha speaks of himself in the third person, it can be a way for him to detach from his own ego and gain a broader perspective on his thoughts and actions. It's like looking at a painting from a distance to see the whole picture, rather than focusing on just one small detail. It's all about finding balance and understanding in his journey of self-discovery.

Jesus, a central figure in Christianity, is known for leaving a life of comfort to spread his teachings and wisdom to others. He lived a simple and humble life, focusing on love, compassion, and spiritual growth.

The eightfold path concentrates on the following: View, intention, speech, action, livelihood, effort, mindfulness and concentration. The Buddhist path focuses mostly on attitudes creating correct outward actions. For the most part, intent is the important aspect of sprituality.

The ten commandments concentrate on: Honoring parents, holy Sabbath day, stealing, lying, murder, coveting, adultery, prohibition of image of God, prohibition of other gods, and the prohibition of speaking God's name. The focus is opposite, creating more specific rules of outward actions to improve the inner person and the correct relationship with God.

The eightfold path makes no specific mention of honoring parents, but is implied in the all-inclusive mankind. It also makes no mention of having a special day set aside for spirituality or worshiping other Gods. The Buddha is not considered a diety per se (with a few denominational exclusions), but a state of being for which to strive. Judeo-Christian belief is monotheistic and makes no mention of inner searching in the ten commandments (later passages cover the philosophy of inner peace and joy, but are a result of correct outer action in the Old Testament).

The similarities include the prohibition of murder, stealing, inappropriate sex, covetousness, and lying. Again, the commandments prohibit the act directly: Thou shalt not steal; whereas the path prohibits the act by a comparison: Do not conduct yourself in the manner of a thief. The result is the same, but the approach is opposite.

So in short the main difference between the two is the Buddhist inner leads to outer good, and the Judeo-Christian outer leads to inner good.
