I don't see why not. You'll probobly have to switch all the accessories for it too but The deville hasn't really changed very much since 1994 in fact in 94 it came with the option of the 4.9 and the 4.6 Northtar that comes standard in the 01.
On my 1996 Deville, the problem was one of the two fine wires coming off of the ignition switch that lead to the computer that reads the chip in the key had broken off. According to the dealer, this is very common. The solution is to have the ignition switch replaced. Dealer cost aprox. $400.00. I later found a locksmith that said they do them all the time for about $250.00. I was told that although the car may restart for awhile after you get that theft system warning, eventually, it will not and will have to be towed.

Just went through it, sorry it's not good news but, head gasket. Didn't realize because the symptom's didn't match. It wasn't smoking or showing water. It was a pinhole spot. You'll may need new heads too if the aluminum got too hot. Good Luck

The engine itself is VERY reliable. The problem is usually electronics in the car. I have had my 98 Deville for years and never had any engine problems. I have had to replace the water pump, thermostat, and power steering pump. Hope that helps...

Under the intake manifold on the rear(Left) cylinder head. While your down there replace the starter as well. you will need to remove the throttle body and brackets,drain engine coolant purchase new intake gasketts along with throttle body gasketts. Egr valve and fuel rail must be removed too. purchase new gasketts. you will have to remove thermostat as well so purchaes new gaskett. Dont forget fuel injector o rings this is vital because they will be removed with fuel rail as one piece.
after reading all this you still wanna replace that sensor?

My step daughter just bought a 92. If you look through the grill you will see the latch mechanism on the hood. A little hard to do, but with the hood partially released you can barely get your arm up under the hood, push left on the latch while pulling down on hood to release pressure. . the pump is driven off of a accessory belt,YES,jack the car up,and look underneath,you will see a pipe mounted to the oil pan and the back of the block sometimes,unbolt it,and pull the pipe out of the waterpump,now look up at the water pump and you will see 3 bolts holding it on,take them out,and fish that thing out of there!!!there is a O-ring that goes on the pipe,so be sure to replace it!

The sensor that you asked is likely the Front or Rear Brake Pad Wear Sensor which is attached to the brake pad. When a brake pad is worn out, the sensor activates the Brake Pad warning light on the dashboard. The sensor must be replaced at the cost over $60/each ! assuming you do it yourself. The Service Manual for the Catera is not available at any books/autopart store unless you purchase it at the Cadillac dealer which is very expensive (few hundred $$). I purchased the Service Manual in DVD from eBay which was very cheap ($25) and extremely helpful (you must have the manual for any work including changing the tail lamp, believe me). Another way is to subscribe to ALLDATA (?) which advertises on this site. Good luck!
