Why do phones and calculators have different number layouts?

Data-entry professionals, and others who used calculators fairly regularly, were quite adept at navigating keypads (7, 8 and 9 across the top row). They could hit the numbers extremely quickly, which was great for data entry, but not so great for dialing a touch-tone phone. The tone-recognition technology could not operate effectively at the speeds at which these specialists could dial the numbers. The telephone designers figured that if they reversed the layout, the dialing speeds would decrease and the tone-recognition would be able to do its job more reliably. This theory has little proof to substantiate it, but it does make sense... vipulsahu@iitr

How to increase calculator solar panel voltage?

There is no way to up the panels voltage by itself what you will need to do is get 2 or more panels and connect them in a "Series" to add the voltage. If you connect them in "Parallel" then you will add the Amps and the Volts will stay the same. So lets pay are you starter than a fifth grader and see if we know which way is a series and which way is parallel.

I could not remember so I had to look it up to be for sure. http://www.autoshop101.com/trainmodules/elec_circuits/circ113.html has a nice little description of it all.

Basically a series is having Panel A connect to Panel B then to the light, or whatever. Parallel is having Panel A and Panel B on separate wires connecting to one wire then to the light. Hence Parallel since they will typically be next to each other.

So to make a short answer long, connect one panel to the next before connecting it to the light for more voltage.
