Were there cameras in 1915?

Of course, all of the present types except digital, not yet invented. this included: Polaroid, Instamatic (l963-85), 35MM single lens reflex, 35mm rangefinder, Press and View bellow cameras (such as Speed Graphic and Linhof) miniature or subminiature cameras such as the Minox, and of course the now somewhat moribund narrow-gauge(8mm, super-8 and l6mm) home movie cameras! There were also stereo or 3D cameras of different types, this type now (metzs-a metz) out of style.

Did the invention of the camera influence artists?

Yes, it certainly did. Some painters used a camera instead of sketching in front of a subject. Later on, around 1900, we find painters (and groups of painters) who held the view that painting should not try to achieve the same thing as photography, i.e. to copy reality. So there are all the -isms that are not realistic.

Gatsonides wished to better monitor his speed around the corners of a race track and came up with the device in order to improve his time around the circuit [2]. The company developed the first radar for use with road traffic, and is the world's largest supplier of speed camera systems. Because of this, in some countries all makes of speed cameras are sometimes generically referred to as "Gatsos".

How are aerial photographs useful?

Two main reasons:-

Firstly to improve on a ground-based photograph. For example, say you photographed a house to advertise it for sale. From the ground or, even a Google Aerial shot is very 'flat' and unflattering. Move the camera off the ground so that you get a bit of an angle and the image immediately becomes more appealing.

Secondly to obtain shots that are either impossible or impractical/too costly. For instance, consider a proposed development for a Property Developer. It wants a view from the future Penthouse, but currently there is a pile of rubble on the ground. A ground or mast-based camera cannot get high enough but a UAV with a camera can fly to the required height and snap away merrily. Similarly, if a building such as a Church let fall some masonry from up high, a steeplejack or Scaffolder could get up there, but a quicker solution could be an aerial craft to fly up and relay inspection images to ground allowing for a rapid damage assessment to be made.

Who is the earliest president of whom a photograph exists?

John Quincy Adams was the first President to be photographed (see Related Links), but this photo was taken in 1843 long after he left office and was serving in Congress.

According to Whitehouse.gov, the first President to be photographed while in office was James Polk. There are copies of what look like a photo of William Henry Harrison, but I think these are a photo of a painting or drawing of Harrison made sometime later.

What does a mirror do in a camera?

The mirror is part of the viewing/focusing mechanism.

In an SLR with a pentaprism or similar means of getting the light from the lens to the eyepiece, the light coming through the lens has to be redirected vertically up, and then redirected horizontally out, to the back of the camera. The mirror is used as the first means of diversion because it is directly behind the lens and also may provide some or all of the blockage between the lens and the film or sensor. (some SLRs may have no focal plane shutter just a mirror, that flips up for the amount of time that the shutter speed is set).

In a rangefinder camera if it is a mirror assembly then the mirror picks up a second image through a second port that is then redirected by the mirror to the main eyepiece viewer, and focusing is based on adjusting the secondary image that is superimposed on the main eyepiece viewer. SLRs can have a combination of such a "split image" as well as soft-to-sharp focus system but again it is direct through the lens.

How cameras have changed through the years?

in the past they are analogue and now they are digital. analogue produces less clearer photos if transfered to different copies while the clearness of digital are still in good condition even when photo have been transferred and copied many times. analogue camera require films while digital requires amemory card. if using digital camera, you are able to edit the photo using programmes on the computer while in analogue, photos taken can not be edited using a computer. cameras today are much smaller than in the past they are much more convenient to use and bring along compared to those in the past.

What is wrong with your camera when it wont take a picture with a flash?

Check to see if you have switched off the flash function by accident.

If you're on the auto-flash mode, the camera may not flash if it thinks the scene is bright enough and can be captured without flash.

If you want the flash to happen, you can try the forced flash function.

Advantages and disadvantages of an aerial vertical photo and an aerial tilted photograph?

Real-estate agents, travellers and others use aerial photography to take photos. Geographers, cartographers, and commercial mappers use aerial photography to see land features not visible through ground level photographs. The wider area viewing, consistent scales through the entire frame for accurate measurement are just two advantages. There are no disadvantages for aerial photographers. For an annual function, I called an aerial photographer from singaporeaerialphotography.com to take photos.

Who invented the handheld video camera?

The first video cameras were produced in the 1920s in support of the early television systems. John Logie Baird built a camera as part of his television system demonstrated in 1925. Philo Farnsworth made a fully electronic camera that was demonstrated in 1929. The video camera, or television camera, is a fundamental part of television so cameras have been around for as long as television has existed.

Color cameras were developed and trialled in the 1950s and were used commercially in 1954 by RCA when they began successful broadcasting of color television in the US.

The next ambition among developers was to produce a portable, combined camera and recorder. The size of cameras and recorders in the 1950s made it impossible to call any device portable. It took the development of video cassettes to enable a truly portable "camcorder"

They were first developed for television production, especially for news telecasts of on-the-spot events; but they were soon marketed as a family resource-the record keeper of milestones such as weddings and graduations and a baby's first steps. Now video recording has come full circle as amateurs make spur-of-the-moment videos of events ranging from slices of life of their family and friends to major disasters or scandals.

Developments in camera and recording technologies has made the video camera and the camcorder more accessible over four decades. Both size and cost have reduced steadily to the point where they can be included in cell phones and deliver a quality that is similar or better than the first domestic camcorders of the 1970s and early1980s.
