I know that they are kind of interested in carrots. shave it with a pealer and see what they do.

I'm not sure, but i do know they cant breathe when they re upside-down.

It could be a painted turtle. The Western Painted Turtle has no red stripes that I could see, but has a red pattern at the edge of the shell and the bottom of the shell(plastron) is pink with a large, dark design extending to the edges. Hope this helps

If you had a habitat large enough that could accommodate a land area, a shallow water area and a deep water area it would be ok to house them together. The painted turtle would spend most of its time in the deeper water only coming on to land to bask, and the box turtle will spend the majority of its time on the land. i have two red ear sliders.. when my turtles are basking they usually get up on the area i have provided for them on a rock underneath a heat lamp in their tank.. they will fan their feet out and or just lay in the heat lamp

Either your map turtle is too cold to eat, and is preparing for hibernation, your turtle recently noticed a big change (like a new tank, new tank arrangement, or you traveled with your turtle) or your map turtle is sick. Check the water and basking temperatures to make sure they are hot enough. Water and basking temperatures depend on what specific species your map turtle is, but is around 70 degrees Fahrenheit for water temperature and 90+ degrees Fahrenheit for your basking temperature. If your turtle doesn't eat for three days, take it in to a vet.

Well you have to have a UV Light, a Turtle Dock, a Filter, a Heater, and at the least a 10 gallon tank. You need 1 gallon per inch of turtle. I have two baby painted turtles and they eat "Baby Shrimp and Krill" and eat alot each day. You should get some plants and gravel to put in the tank too. I'm guessing you mean softshell. Their shells are obviously soft and have big white spots and discoloration. The shell may also be lumpy or loose it's coloration.
